Who we are

On paper, we’re an Engineering leadership team guiding cloud, data and application platforms. In practice, we’re the platform pioneers re-imagining how Bendigo and Adelaide Bank builds and leverages technology to empower our community and delight customers.

We sit at the intersection of vision and execution—shaping Ferocia’s technical trajectory while setting the gold standard for engineering excellence across the entire Bendigo and Adelaide Bank ecosystem.

What you'll do

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Own the roadmap. You’ll define and evangelise a multi-year platform strategy—anticipating where cloud, data and apps need to be in 1–5 years, and rallying teams to get there.
  • Deliver big-bet initiatives. From ideation through to handover, you’ll sponsor end-to-end platform programs that span Ferocia and the bank—ensuring they’re robust, secure and built to last.
  • Bridge silos. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Product, Design, Governance & Risk and senior leaders across the enterprise to prioritise investments and embed platform services everywhere they’re needed.

Architecture & Engineering Excellence

  • Shape enterprise architecture. You’ll architect and evolve our cloud, data and application platforms—balancing cost, performance and resilience at scale.
  • Set the standards. Define coding, security and compliance best practices, then see them adopted across multiple business units.
  • Champion innovation. You’ll pilot new technologies and patterns, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
  • Make us compliant. Actively manage technology Risk and Compliance.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Build and grow teams. In partnership with People & Culture, you’ll recruit senior engineers and managers, and cultivate a diverse, inclusive environment where everyone does their best work.
  • Mentor engineers. You’ll coach Engineering Managers, Staff and Principal Engineers—helping them level up technically and professionally.
  • Measure what matters. You’ll set clear, data-driven goals (think reliability, adoption, speed), and celebrate the wins.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Be the voice of platform. You’ll translate complex tech into compelling narratives, ensuring stakeholders across the bank understand, adopt and advocate for our platform services.
  • Embed risk & compliance. You’ll partner with Governance & Risk Operations to bake security and regulatory requirements into every initiative.

What you bring

  • Proven platform leadership in large-scale, regulated environments (banking or finance preferred).
  • Deep hands-on expertise in cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), data platforms (streaming, warehousing) and application frameworks (microservices, CI/CD, observability).
  • Architectural vision for solutions with enterprise impact and longevity.
  • Exceptional communication—you can make senior leaders, engineers and non-tech colleagues fall in love with platform thinking.
  • Collaborative spirit—you thrive breaking down silos, building partnerships and driving outcomes together.
  • Growth mindset—you’re always learning, always sharing, and constantly raising the bar.

We have a hybrid work culture where people can attend the Ferocia office as much or as little as makes sense for them, but we are currently only hiring in Melbourne (or adjacent areas) as we still value physically getting together at least a half-dozen times per year.
