Position Description

We are seeking a Media and Editorial Content Lead to own Fervo’s relationship with the press, and manage an integrated content strategy for its digital channels. This role is the front line for every inbound media inquiry and the driver behind proactive outreach that puts Fervo’s story in front of the right audiences.

The Media and Editorial Content Lead manages all media relations for Fervo, end to end — fielding inbound press inquiries, proactively pitching outbound stories, building and maintaining reporter relationships, and drafting the press releases and statements that carry Fervo’s name. This role also owns Fervo’s social media presence, setting the day-to-day voice and content strategy across the company’s channels, including its website.

This role requires someone comfortable operating fast and independently, equally capable of handling a reporter’s same-day request and planning a proactive media and social calendar weeks out. As a newly public company, Fervo’s media presence matters, and this role is expected to exercise sound judgment on what gets said, when and where, and to what audiences. Exemplary writing and storytelling is a must for this role.

Responsibilities

Media Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all inbound media inquiries, coordinating responses with the head of communications, agency teams and leadership as needed.

  • Drive proactive outbound media outreach, pitching stories and securing coverage that supports Fervo’s narrative and builds a positive reputation for the company.

  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and outlets covering energy, climate, and technology.

  • Draft press releases, holding statements, FAQs and media briefing materials.

  • Track and report on media coverage and sentiment.

Social Media & Digital Channels

  • Own Fervo’s social media channels end to end, including content strategy, calendar, and day-to-day posting.

  • Manage paid social across platforms.

  • Set and maintain a consistent brand voice across all social platforms.

  • Monitor social engagement and adjust strategy based on what resonates with Fervo’s audiences.

  • Align all editorial content with broader company strategy.

Crisis & Issues Support

  • Support rapid-response communications during breaking news, incidents, or issues affecting Fervo’s reputation.

  • Help prepare holding statements and messaging guidance for use across media and social channels.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in media relations or public relations, in-house or agency.

  • Established relationships with reporters and outlets covering energy, climate, or technology.

  • Experience drafting high impact communications like news releases, statements and digital content.

  • Experience owning and growing a company’s social media presence across major platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to move quickly and make sound judgment calls under time pressure.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in energy, climate tech, or another regulated industry.

  • Experience with media monitoring and social analytics tools.

  • Crisis communications experience.

  • Experience supporting media relations at a newly public company.
