About the Job:
FFE Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the firm’s growing Cincinnati team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and supervise mechanical engineering staff.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading mechanical engineering scope for design projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
- Overseeing the design of HVAC systems, energy modeling, and technical specifications for diverse projects.
- Preparing and performing quality control on design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Conducting field surveys, shop drawing reviews, and executing BIM implementation plans.
- Reviewing designs for code compliance, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
- Assigning work to mechanical engineering staff, setting clear expectations, and providing feedback.
- Developing labor estimates and entering labor forecasts for the Mechanical group in the company project management system.
- Mentoring and supervising the mechanical engineering team members, providing learning and development guidance, conducting check-ins, and an annual performance review.
- Acting as the primary client interface for mechanical engineering, fostering strong, long-term client relationships.
- Identifying and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency, innovation, and technical quality.
- Representing FFE in client interviews, industry presentations, and professional associations.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- 10+ years experience in engineering
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- PE license required
- Healthcare project experience preferred
- Experience with preparing contract documents (Drawings and Specifications)
- Experience in design coordination on multi-discipline projects
- Experience in successfully leading engineering teams and delivering projects of varying scale and complexity
- Strong understanding of building codes and construction practices

FFE is committed to delivering competitive and equitable pay for our employees.
This position's total compensation pay range is expected to be between $106,000 and $130,000/year, depending on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, market factors, and business needs.
If hired, the position is “at-will“. The company reserves the right to modify any component, plan, or program of the total rewards package for any reason.
Work Environment
This position is performed in an office environment and potentially at a home office (with prior authorization from the supervisor); however, the individual is also required to travel to other locations for client meetings, project site visits, conferences, training, and other business-related events, and to the project site as needed.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; use fingers and hands to type or write; reach with hands and arms; operate a vehicle; and talk and hear. Must be capable of lifting and moving up to 20 lbs.
