About the Program
Students interested in digital communication, social media, and technology are welcome to apply for our summer intern program. Our Washington, DC office is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented student for a full-time summer internship. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on client accounts across FGS’s strategic, corporate, and financial functions, and gain hands-on experience working alongside our teams of dedicated and creative communications professionals.
This is a 10-week paid internship ($20/hour) beginning on June 2nd and ending August 8th, 2025. Our internship follows a hybrid schedule with an expectation of 4 days in the office per week in our Washington, D.C. office.
Depending on performance, a full-time role after graduation may be available.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor news, conduct research, create media lists, and aid multiple account teams to help clients with digital channel management, profile raising, crisis, issues management, mergers and acquisitions, litigation support, etc.
- Learn about the many facets of what we do, including crisis and issues management, government affairs and policy, strategy and reputation, and financial communications (investor relations, M&A, VC and shareholder activism).
- Participate in a robust internal training program that covers many facets of communications more generally.
- Conduct and analyze industry- and company-specific social media research
- Assist in building, managing, and reporting on performance for digital ad and/or email newsletter campaigns
- Work under the direction of an assigned mentor to devise recommendations and solutions for clients’ digital channels
- Recognize and identify noteworthy patterns or changes in social media activity.
- Assist in planning, brainstorming, and executing social media tactics and strategies
- Create content for clients across owned social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Bluesky, and more.
- Perform social channel research audits and develop social media content calendars.
- Produce data-driven analytics reports related to social and digital channel performance.
- Write email newsletter copy, blog posts, and web content as necessary.
- Work with team members on related digital projects and tasks.
Qualifications:
- Rising Senior in undergraduate program
- Eagerness and desire to learn
- Strong writer and editor
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Interest in and enthusiasm for social media, digital communications, finance, and/or public relations
- Ability to take initiative, ask questions, and manage multiple assignments and deadlines at once
- Excellent interpersonal skills
District of Columbia Salary Range
$20 - $20 USD
