FGS Global is seeking a Director, Strategic Communications to join our Houston, Texas office. Individuals in this role are responsible for driving day-to-day execution of both long-term communications assignments and special situations for clients in all industries (e.g., M&A, restructurings, investor-related issues, corporate reputation, governance, media relations, etc.); the individual is expected to focus in particular on litigation support and crises. The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker with strong writing and analytical skills, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and present complex stories within a clear and compelling messaging framework. While this professional may come from a number of backgrounds, experience in the banking industry or a law firm is strongly preferred.
Specifics include:
- Serving as account project manager, including assigning responsibilities, anticipating account needs and ensuring activities are completed on-time, while providing strategic and tactical support to senior team members.
- Serving as the focal point for information on her/his accounts with knowledge of all activity that is relevant to the account.
- Taking responsibility for developing materials (e.g., strategic communications plans, press releases, investor presentations, shareholder letters, talking points, Q&As, etc.).
- Building and managing media relationships, including responding to inbound inquiries and serving as a spokesperson for clients.
- Serving as a role model for other account staff by leading through actions – being prepared, proactive and available, with a “can do” attitude.
- Engaging directly with clients and advisors, representing FGS Global’s recommendations or position on issues that have a financial, reputation and/or business impact.
- Supporting new business opportunities in the market and working to strengthen and expand existing client relationships with compelling ideas and excellent service.

Experience
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in finance, investor relations, law, or a related field.
- A bachelor’s degree with an outstanding academic record is required, advanced degree is a plus.
