Associate Director, Employee Communications & Engagement
SUMMARY OF ROLE
As FGS Global continues to grow and expand its capabilities, the firm seeks an Associate Director to join its newly established Employee Communications & Engagement team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape how the firm communicates with colleagues worldwide and develop a best-in-class internal communications function.
As part of a recently created team, the Associate Director will have influence in establishing the narratives, frameworks, and structures that will define how the firm engages its people for years to come. The Associate Director will develop and implement internal communications plans and employee engagement initiatives, partner with teams across the business (HR, Transformation, Technology, Finance, Marketing, etc.) to support timely developments and change management initiatives, and play an integral role in content planning and creation for the firm’s intranet.
The ideal candidate has 4-7 years of experience working at a strategic communications advisory or in-house at a leading professional services firm or B2B company, with exceptional writing skills and a proven track record of developing and executing successful internal communications programs and compelling employee narratives for matrixed global organizations.
The position is hybrid, with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office, based in our New York or Washington, DC office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications Support
- Contribute to the development and delivery of a global employee communications plan that strengthens culture, drives strategic priorities, facilitates seamless integration and adoption of new technologies, tools, and programs, and deepens connection and collaboration across a distributed global workforce.
- Create brand-aligned messaging and materials for major business updates, including new policies, change management, leadership appointments, M&A, and other growth-related initiatives, and routinely collaborate with internal subject matter experts on materials originated by their teams.
- Help to create and implement new frameworks, processes, and tools that ensure message consistency, strategic alignment, and risk management across offices and teams, integrating feedback and spotting opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and facilitate all hands meetings and other global internal events, from managing logistics to building presentations and preparing speakers to creating post-event recaps and content.
- Collaborate with HR and Transformation teams to translate the firm’s brand narrative into compelling employee storylines, pilot employee engagement programs, and launch internal thought leadership platforms for global leaders.
- Manage the global editorial calendar for internal communications and partner with regional leads to implement systemic coordination and a harmonized approach.
Intranet Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations of the intranet, including posting, updating, and curating a compelling content ecosystem of articles, videos, and multimedia resources.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders across offices and teams to help source timely content and ensure accuracy, relevance, and consistency.
- Help maintain content guidelines and quality standards, providing employees with the most valuable and actionable content.
- Support the integration of intranet content with other enterprise systems and digital workplace tools, including the firm’s proprietary agentic AI platform.
- Monitor content performance metrics and provide insights for improvement to optimize the platform.
- Gather employee feedback and help drive enhancements to the intranet experience.
- Assist with training and onboarding for new intranet users as needed.
Project Management
- Lead or support project management for internal communications, employee engagement, and intranet initiatives, ensuring deadlines, deliverables, and expectations are met.
- Serve as a connector between offices and teams, facilitating collaboration and information sharing, and advising on communications implications of major decisions.
- Champion best practices and provide operational support for content workflows and editorial processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 4-7 years’ experience in strategic communications, HR/employee communications, or editorial management, ideally at a communications firm or in-house.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with content management systems and intranet platforms.
- Project management experience; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
- Analytical mindset; able to interpret metrics and feedback to improve content and communications.
- Familiarity with user experience (UX) principles and web technologies is a plus.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

New York City Salary Range
$80,000 - $120,000 USD
