Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Mexico
Reports to: General Manager, Mexico

About the Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will support and drive continuous improvement across our critical manufacturing functions. At Fictiv, we serve two primary customers: our builders, who design and order parts through our platform, and our manufacturing partners, who fabricate and assemble those parts. In this role, you will work at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and cost, ensuring high-quality, manufacturable solutions for our customers.

Fictiv’s mission is to create the world’s premier platform for hardware manufacturing—and you will play a critical role in making that vision a reality.

What You’ll Do

You will review and analyze the manufacturability and cost of parts submitted by our builders across a variety of fabrication processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal, assembly, welding, urethane casting, and other manufacturing methods. Leveraging your mechanical engineering background and hands-on manufacturing experience, you will recommend design improvements to meet performance, cost, and lead-time requirements.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Release Package Review – Analyze CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and related data to determine scope of work, manufacturability, manufacturing requirements, and minimum lead times
  • Quoting – Combine engineering analysis with Fictiv’s software recommendations to generate accurate quotes for builders
  • Cost Calculator Development – Use fabrication expertise and understanding of cost drivers to develop cost calculators that support bringing new quoting capabilities in-house
  • DFx Feedback – Provide DFx (Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost, etc.) feedback to builders to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and simplify assembly
  • Automation Feedback – Partner with the quoting software team to improve the accuracy of automated manufacturing quotes
  • Drawing Generation – Create high-quality 2D drawings in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
  • Packaging Design – Design packaging solutions that meet customer and manufacturing requirements
