Visual Interface Owner - TeleOp

Figure is an AI Robotics company developing a general purpose humanoid. Our humanoid robot, Figure 02, is designed for commercial tasks and the home. We are based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration. It’s time to build.

We are looking for a senior engineer with extensive experience in VR systems, vision passthrough and video encoding and transmission to own the visual interface between the robot and the teleoperation system. 

You ensure the pilot sees what the robot sees! 

Responsibilities:

• Architect the vision system from the robot to the pilot to ensure high quality teleoperation.
• Design and implement low-latency, high-fidelity bidirectional data streaming between the robot and the headset.
• Ensure consistent and stable data transfer in a variety of environments, wired and wireless.
• Use off-the-shelf VR headsets to design and build the interface for the TeleOp system. 
• Develop strategies for visualizing the state of the robot and its environment. 
• Develop strategies for estimating the pose of the user, such as feet location, localization in space.

Requirements: 

• Experience developing and owning passthrough systems for VR.
• Experience developing VR environments, games, mixed reality applications. 
• Thrive in a high pace environment, comfortable exploring ideas quickly. 
• Strong experience with Unreal Engine, Unity, WebXR, and/or related technologies.
• Strong C++, Python skills. 
• Experience with haptics is a plus.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $175,000 and $250,000 annually.

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
