Security Engineer Intern [Winter 2027]

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

We are looking for a Security Engineering Intern to join the Security & Privacy team at Figure during Winter 2027, focusing on various security domains, including security of the robot, corporate infrastructure, as well as our AI systems. We are looking for excellent security engineers who have experience in breaking and building complex software systems, with experience in AI and embedded systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct security assessments of applications, embedded systems, back-end services, and business integrations, as well as build tooling for a secure development lifecycle.

  • Design and implement technical solutions to protect robots, infrastructure, corporate environments, employees and users.

  • Design and implement data governance and anonymization systems.

  • Build cutting edge security controls to manage Figure enterprise security posture, including corporate Identity, DLP, device hardening, and Zero Trust architectures.

  • Identify, analyze, and build threat intelligence on relevant trends in adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for sophisticated threat actors spanning APTs and cybercrime.

  • Be a champion for security and user privacy.

Requirements:

  • Experience/Interest in at least one of the following security domains: application security, enterprise security, Cloud/infrastructure security, detection and response, hardware/device security, or privacy engineering.

  • Strong software engineering (not only scripting or automation) skills in C/C++, Rust, Golang, Python or similar.

  • Solid foundation in security fundamentals: threat modeling, system security, web security, network security, and cryptography.

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders whilst prioritizing tasks and work independently with appropriate supervision and guidance.

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field.

  • Passion for learning and helping others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $40 - $45/hr. 

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
