Role Overview:

We are looking for a Head of Audio to join our studio, working on a dark, story-driven 'Narrative Adventure' where you will be involved with all aspects of Audio. This huge, highly ambitious project takes atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and narrative firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.

In this role, the Head of Audio will have a significant impact on how the game sounds by helping to craft the strategic direction of how we deliver audio for this exciting AAA project. You will partner with award winning talent within Firesprite, PlayStation Studios, and our external partners to develop an unforgettable audio experience for our players, whilst finding ways to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of audio.

The role is based in the studio for 2-3 days per week with flexibility.

What you'll be doing:

  • You will steer the creative, technical, and strategic vision for the audio team based on the project direction and studio plans.
  • Bring quality and cohesion to dialogue, sound design, music, and technology in collaboration with the game’s Leadership Team.
  • Advise Production on budgetary and planning decisions, to get the highest quality results within available means.
  • Lead and maintain the audio facilities at the studio.
  • Supervise the audio team, providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Regularly meet with all audio team members to offer support, constructive feedback, and performance assessments to help facilitate the team’s best work.
  • Evaluate individual’s goals and objectives to support career growth and wellbeing, whilst meeting department goals.
  • Select and work with several outsource partners to ensure delivery of high-quality audio assets and integration.
  • Assists with project staffing, hiring, and onboarding.

What we are looking for:

  • Prior experience in senior creative leadership audio roles within AAA game development.
  • Experience in driving and delivering outstanding audio.
  • Comfortable communicating creative ideas.
  • A strong critical eye making you excellent at giving and receiving notes.
  • An analytical mind that can balance organisational realities with the creative process.
  • Deep understanding of current industry audio technologies, and how to deploy them for a AAA title.
  • A leadership style that is marked by personal visibility, open communication, relationship building and collaboration.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and focus on larger issues whilst supervising critical smaller details.
