Principal Graphics Programmer - Tech - Studio

Role Description:

We are looking for a Principal Graphics Programmer to join our studio, working on a dark, story-driven 'Narrative Adventure' with genre defining goals. This huge, highly ambitious project takes atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and narrative firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.

This project has AAA ambitions with a heavy focus on art, animation and delivering unique character performances to heighten player presence and immersion to new levels.

Ideally we would love individuals to be based in the studio for 1-3 days per week, but we may consider those who have a preference for remote working in the UK.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with artists to research and develop new innovative graphics features.
  • Writing scalable and reusable code with performance in mind.
  • Maintain, extend, and optimise existing engine or game-side features.
  • Ensuring overall build performance and stability throughout all stages of development.
  • Taking ownership of features & documenting the work accordingly.
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team.

What we're looking for:

  • Several years’ experience developing AAA console/PC titles, through all stages of the development cycle and sharing that knowledge with the team.
  • DirectX12, AGC or other explicit rendering API knowledge.
  • Excellent HLSL or similar shading language skills, understanding of RDNA ISA.
  • Expert in modern C++ and strong overall software engineering and debugging skills.
  • Multithreaded development and debugging experience.
  • Keeping updated with recent advancements in rendering technologies.
  • Excellent 3D maths and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to modify and extend existing complex systems.
  • Experience with profiling and identifying CPU & GPU bottlenecks using industry standard tools.
  • Significant and up to date knowledge of the GPU pipeline.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ray tracing development experience (DXR, PSR, etc).
  • Experience with proprietary engines.
  • Mesh shader pipeline experience.
  • Unreal Engine 5 knowledge.
