Senior Cinematic Artist - Art - Studio

Role Description:

We're looking for a Senior Cinematic Artist to construct high quality in-game cinematic sequences on a story-driven 'Dark Horror Narrative Adventure' with genre defining goals.

This is an ambitious, AAA project with a heavy focus on atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and immersion into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.

Our ideal candidate is a Cinematic Artist with a track record of crafting and delivering cinematics and cutscenes. Working closely with the Cinematography Director and the team members to develop the cinematics from previs to final production.

As a Senior, you will train and help your Mid & Junior level colleagues and provide solutions to problems appearing in the pipeline.

Ideally we would love individuals to be based in the studio for 1-3 days per week, but we may consider those who have a preference for remote working in the UK.

What you'll be doing:

  • Build high quality cinematic sequences through your use of cinematography, camera animation, and editing skills.
  • Independently maintain and develop the cinematics in a highly iterative environment.
  • Help to establish and drive the pipelines, processes and methodologies across the cinematic teams.
  • Plan and prioritise tasks to ensure that deliverables are completed on time and to desired quality.
  • Collaborating with the other team members to resolve any technical challenges and push project quality.
  • Supervise more junior members of the team and coach them to success through reviews and mentorship.

What we're looking for:

  • An experienced Cinematic Artist.
  • A portfolio that showcases examples of visual storytelling and cinematography skills, focusing on: Framing, shot selection, scene composition, camera animation, and editing.
  • A great working knowledge of Unreal engine 5 sequencer, MotionBuilder, Maya or other equivalent 3D programs.
  • A great understanding of cinematic storytelling principles, cinematic language, literacy and visual storytelling theory in an interactive medium.
  • Excellent framing and animation skills for cinematic cameras.
  • A deep understanding of the latest cinematic pipelines and workflows.
  • An exceptional team collaborator and someone who can take the initiative in problem solving for the cinematics team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Adobe Premiere or other similar video editing software.
  • Experience of unreal 5 blueprints and other unreal tools.
  • Experience with lighting.
  • Experience with editing.
