Forward Deployed Product Manager

Redwood City, CA

About Us:

Here at Fireworks, we’re building the future of generative AI infrastructure. Fireworks offers the generative AI platform with the highest-quality models and the fastest, most scalable inference. We’ve been independently benchmarked to have the fastest LLM inference and have been getting great traction with innovative research projects, like our own function calling and multi-modal models. Fireworks is funded by top investors, like Benchmark and Sequoia, and we’re an ambitious, fun team composed primarily of veterans from Pytorch and Google Vertex AI.

The Role:

The ideal Forward Deployed Product Manager (FDPM) candidate is a customer obsessed AI product manager who thrives on our customers’ successful outcomes. You will spend most of your time talking to customers and connecting their technical requirements to the Fireworks product offerings. You will partner closely with Sales, Applied ML Engineers, PMs and engineers to ensure our customers’ success by delivering solutions that meet their needs and influencing our internal product requirements. You’ll go deep with technical users, lead onboarding and solution design, and influence our roadmap based on real-world use cases.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Solution Development:

  • Engage directly with customers from fast-moving startups to large enterprises, to deeply understand their technical challenges, goals, and requirements.
  • Define and propose tailored solutions and proof-of-concepts (POCs) that demonstrate the value of Fireworks’ platform in real customer environments.
  • Recommend optimal model architectures, fine-tuning strategies, and deployment configurations based on quality, latency, and cost tradeoffs.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, helping shape their GenAI strategy using Fireworks infrastructure.
  • Maintain deep product expertise through hands-on usage and experimentation.

Customer Journey:

  • Drive adoption by guiding users from initial interest through onboarding, integration, and successful production usage.
  • Take co-ownership of the customer journey by working across the sales funnel to convert interest into long-term usage and expansion.
  • Identify new use cases and workflows within accounts to expand Fireworks’ footprint and increase stickiness.
  • Lead onboarding and implementation efforts, including fine-tuning workflows, latency benchmarks, API integration, and infrastructure alignment.
  • Own end-to-end execution of key customer projects, coordinating internal stakeholders and ensuring delivery of outcomes.

Fireworks Product Roadmap:

  • Translate customer insights into structured product feedback, identifying common themes and high-leverage feature requests.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, applied ML, and product teams to align customer needs with technical roadmap.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong technical background (CS/EECE background and/or production level development experience) or technical product management experience
  • Intimate familiarity with LLMs, fine-tuning, model inference, agents etc.
  • 2 - 5+ years of experience in products for software engineers (hiring at multiple levels for this role)
  • Strong customer interaction skills, deep customer success focus
  • Ability to communicate highly technical concepts to all kinds of audiences including the latest AI developments
  • Focus on driving outcomes, not just technical milestones
  • Ability to navigate complex customer/technical scenarios and come up with creative solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in technical product management roles with high degree of customer interactions
  • Interest in generative AI or developer tools
  • Early startup or founding experience
  • Prior technical leadership / technical PM experience

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
