JOB SUMMARY:
The Retirement Counselor is the long-term contact for Fisher\SMB plan sponsor clients. Retirement Counselors own the client relationship with plan sponsor contacts from beginning to end. They are responsible for communicating with plan sponsors regularly to facilitate Fisher\SMB fiduciary investment services, provide plan governance support, supervise the relationship with the clients’ Recordkeeper/TPA, and provide plan participant services. Retirement Counselors are responsible for client satisfaction and client retention.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Accountable for client satisfaction and retention throughout the plan sponsor client’s relationship with 401k Solutions.
- Participates in late-stage sales efforts with plan sponsors and manages the plan sponsor relationship post contract signing.
- Reviews existing retirement plan design and recommends appropriate changes throughout the client relationship.
- Consults with plan sponsor to identify investment goals/objectives for the retirement plan and supports generation of a corresponding Investment Policy Statement (IPS) with annual review and updates as needed.
- Provides Recordkeeper/TPA recommendations and ongoing vendor management consultation.
- Oversees and manages retirement plan amendments, Recordkeeper/TPA installation/asset transfer, and investment lineup changes.
- Designs and implements retirement plan participant education and enrollment campaigns.
- Travels approximately 40% of their work time to meet with clients and plan participants.
- Applies advanced knowledge of retirement plan design and regulatory environment to help plan sponsor clients navigate the complexity of retirement plan stewardship and governance.
- Recommends changes to plan governance process to support adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Consults and assists with the implementation of plan sponsor clients’ annual retirement plan administration requirements.
- Responsible for facilitating FRS’s investment fiduciary services.
- Updates plan sponsor clients regularly regarding Fisher\SMB's investment strategy, market outlook, and fund line up investment changes.
- Delivers fee benchmarking and other key information to support plan sponsor’s fiduciary obligations.
- Interfaces with other Fisher\SMB's teams and the Recordkeeper/TPA to ensure the plan is properly serviced
- The Retirement Counselor does not provide any advice or recommendations on investments and fully understands the need for such restriction
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- At least 2 years of experience in asset management and client services preferred
- Extensive knowledge of securities and markets and ability to apply knowledge in a variety of methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly on the phone
- Strong orientation towards client service
- Experience in handling complex, sensitive, and high-profile clients preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business news as well as write reports and business correspondence
- Strong qualitative and/or quantitative skills required
- Pro-active approach to problem solving
- Ability to analyze various situations and develop creative solutions
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changes in a fast paced, team environment
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage time across various tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to complete the examination requirements, or currently hold required securities licenses or a designation, to obtain registration as an Investment Adviser Representative
