Product Owner

As a Product Owner at Flashpoint, you'll drive the delivery of our core cross-product capabilities alongside a top-tier team of Product Managers and Software Engineers. You'll shape the future of our Search, Alerting, Assets and Data pipeline capabilities by crafting user stories that directly address customer needs. You'll bridge the gap between strategic vision and technical execution, ensuring we deliver high-impact solutions. Your superpowers include translating features into detailed requirements, managing the product backlog, and collaborating effectively across teams to deliver end-to-end capabilities across products and features. This role offers a clear path to Product Management, where you'll contribute to the long-term growth and strategic vision of Flashpoint.

We have a role for you if, you:

  • have strong empathy for your customers and your colleagues. You love to build great products, with great people, and you have a passion for delivering great outcomes
  • have walked into an organization, assessed the team and its processes, and have quickly established yourself as someone who is organized and capable of managing a large number of dependencies
  • understand how to plan and set priorities across different teams in order to provide a seamless release of features, enhancements and bug fixes that roll into single capabilities delivered across multiple products 
  • know how to write great outcome-based user stories and requirements that provide the level of detail that software developers need to understand the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ in order to deliver features and enhancements on time and with high quality
  • are a master tactician and make data-driven decisions using success metrics like delivery and backlog burndown rates, change control requests and roadmap delivery metrics
  • understand, utilize and recognize the value and importance of Agile practices and methodologies while understanding that different teams sometimes work in different ways - you’re flexible and pragmatic in your approach to getting things done
  • have a desire to understand the business and how the customer’s needs, and the market, shape our strategic planning and development
  • are an independant team member who loves to ‘own’ their work but recognizes that the best outcomes come from collaboration and working within a strong team
  • love working in a tight-knit organization where everybody puts the customer first and you’re willing to put in that extra effort to make sure that we deliver on our promise of ‘The best data, for the best intelligence’

What you will achieve

  • Within 30 days

    • You will have met all of your direct and extended team members, developed an understanding of your product capability, the existing roadmap and cross-team dependencies, and have established your working relationship with the team of Product Managers and Engineering leads responsible for integrating with your product capability

    • You will have set up accounts in the existing product development and Flashpoint tools and will begin to familiarize yourself with their use

  • Within 60 days

    • You have developed a strong knowledge base around Flashpoint’s products and services and the role your product capability plays in delivering value to customers. You will have assumed responsibility for the existing roadmap and its delivery, and you will have established your working relationships with cross-functional teams (Customer Service, Marketing, Sales Associates and Sales). You are quickly becoming the authority for your product capability and you’re starting to manage Q&A across the business related to the current roadmap.

    • You are fully immersed in the product development and release process and you have developed a solid understanding and working knowledge of existing tools and processes. You will have a plan in place for the successful transition of responsibilities related to your product capability and you will begin planning for the delivery of the current quarter’s roadmap

  • By 90 days

    • You have successfully assumed responsibility for the day-to-day management of your product capability and roadmap. You are managing Q&A across the business in regards to your product capability and you have assumed roadmap planning responsibilities for future quarters

    • You are working with your partners across the organization to refine the existing deliverables and plan with an eye towards developing a longer term roadmap spanning several quarters. You have established strong relationships and subject matter expertise and you are ready to assume full responsibility for your product capability across the organization - you are now the ‘owner’ of your product capability

    • You have developed strong cross-product expertise and are able to contextualize Flashpoint’s value proposition in relation to open source Cyber Threat Intelligence and how Flashpoint’s products helps customers manage their threat exposure

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Experience in a relevant discipline such as information security, computer science, software engineering or other related disciplines
  • Experience as a Product Owner or related role in project/product management, business analysis or software development
  • Basic knowledge of one or more Agile methodologies - Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc. 
  • Basic knowledge of product development - familiarity with concepts such as user stories, acceptance criteria, product life cycle, continuous improvement and delivery
  • Basic toolset knowledge - e.g. Product Management (Productboard, Aha!, etc.), Jira, Confluence and Slack
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and an aptitude for analytical thinking, identifying problems, generating solutions, and making decisions

Base Pay Range: 90,000 - 107,000 CAD plus bonus
