Title: Engineer/Principal Engineer, Civil Engineering

Reports To: VP Engineering and Construction

Location: Boston, New York City, and Denver Flatiron Energy offices or regions, including PJM Mid Atlantic, preferred. Remote also considered.

Description: Responsible for developing grid scale standalone energy storage projects in target markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead civil engineering of projects, including sourcing and selecting of key contractors
• Lead identification of local, state and/or federal permits pertaining to siting and setbacks
• Generating site layouts for multiple BESS technology options based on OEM documentation and local requirements
• Support development activities in early, mid, and late stages of the project
• Support acquisition of civil-related local, state, and/or federal permits as required
• Generation, review, and possible stamping of drawings as applicable
• Preferred: GIS mapping for prospective site screening and constraint mapping
• Preferred: 3D model reviews of BESS equipment

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 5 (five years) of experience in project development preferably renewables and battery energy storage (BESS)
• Development experience in PJM, NYISO, and/or ISO-NE
• Successful track record of developing projects from inception through COD
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to self-direct, flexibility, creativity, desire to grow into additional responsibilities
• Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail

• Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
• Salary:  Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
• Bonus:  Competitive bonus based on the achievement of development milestones and performance

• Location:  Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Prefer candidate to be based in the Mid Atlantic, New England or New York, however, location of workplace is flexible provided candidate is able to travel as required.
