Director, Contracts Management- Power Generation

Fleet Data Centers is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Contracts Management Director focused on high-value agreements spanning EPC contractors that support islanded power/power generation solutions. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Development, you will lead the commercial strategy and the prepositioning of EPC contracts with key partners for Behind-the-Meter, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and related islanded power solutions. You will partner with executive leadership, Legal, Engineering, Islanded Power technical teams, development, construction, operations, and finance to negotiate complex agreements, manage commercial risk, and handover to the proper project-execution team.  

How will you make a difference?

  • Lead commercial negotiations across a diverse portfolio of complex agreements (e.g., EPC to include BTM, BESS, etc.) 
  • Negotiate and manage major EPC, engineering, construction, and contractor furnished/contractor installed equipment along with prepositioning related service contracts (e.g., O&M). 
  • Develop commercial strategies that balance project delivery, cost, schedule, and contractual risk. 
  • Provide executive leadership with commercial recommendations, negotiation strategies, and risk assessments. 
  • Work with Systems and Operations teams across Supply Chain to establish contract management systems, governance procedures, and commercial controls. 
  • Work with Legal to develop templates, negotiation plans, and commercial standards that improve consistency and efficiency. 
  • Partnering closely with legal while maintaining ownership of commercial outcomes. 
  • Support multiple high-value complex agreements simultaneously within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Economics, Finance, Construction Management, Legal Studies, Contract Law, Business Law, Construction Management, or Supply Chain.
  • 10+ years in contracts, commercial management. Extensive experience negotiating complex agreements for large-scale capital projects within industries such as Hyperscale Data Centers, Data Center Developers, Power Generation, Energy, Utilities, Industrial Infrastructure, mission critical EPC Projects.
  • 7+ years of data center experience or mission critical, fast-paced/large-scale infrastructure or data center projects.
  • 10+ years of commercial/transactional contracts management experience including awarding, drafting, negotiation, execution, and administration. Includes an applied understanding of commercial/contract language, engineering/network practices, risk management, supply chain, or similar contracts-related experience. 
  • Expertise in sourcing through contracting, cost management and optimization, supplier management, and strategic sourcing in construction, data center, or critical infrastructure sectors
  • Strong financial analysis and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Technologically adept with procurement systems and tools; Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Proven success negotiating complex EPC, construction, engineering, and supply agreements.
  • Strong “cradle to grave” understanding of complex agreements and terms that impact contracts administration, change management, claims, and associated downstream commercial risk post contract execution.
  • Ability to influence executives and other senior stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience negotiating complex agreements for islanded power solutions specifically for BTM and BESS.
  • Advanced Degree in business administration, economics, construction management, legal studies, contract/business law, or engineering.
  • Start-up environment/mentality with a bias for execution.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management tools, data analytics, and advanced reporting.
  • Knowledge of supply chain sustainability/social responsibility 
  • Proficiency in contract lifecycle management (CLM) capabilities (development of business requirements through active use). 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. .

  • Operational Paranoia: Anticipate risks, identify vulnerabilities, and proactively implement mechanisms to prevent and minimize disruptions and safeguard safety, security, availability, and scale.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate trust, collaboration, and long-term partnerships, while building a broad network that provides valuable benchmarking, industry insights, and alternative sourcing options.

Location and Travel

  • Work location is flexible to Seattle, WA, Denver, CO, Austin, TX, or Alexandria, VA.  100% Remote employees will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Regular travel, as needed, to Fleet offices as well as to meet with vendors.

Expected Salary Range

  • $190,000 - $210,000 + Discretionary Bonus.
