Fleetio is looking for a Director of Engineering with a focus on the Marketplace and Partnerships areas of our business. These are fast-growing areas of our organization that need a leader with an aggressive growth mindset, bias towards speed, and leadership abilities to drive the team to deliver outcomes and results.

Fleetio’s Marketplace is a comprehensive platform that facilitates our customers easily finding and purchasing a wide range of products and services essential to their fleet operations. Our shop integrations allows our customers to efficiently manage external maintenance activities and get insight into service data. Our Fleetio Pay solution helps Fleet Managers to efficiently manage service work, and provide simple and hassle-free ways to make payments. We also help vendors keep shop details current and monitor received payments from Fleetio customer transactions all in one place. Learn more about how our shop integrations work here.

Fleetio’s Partnerships team is focused on building solutions for our reseller partners to leverage Fleetio. We also build integrations with industry partners to consume data and leverage it to provide meaningful insights for our customers.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has a strong business acumen, experience building a marketplace ecosystem with a smooth payment experience serving various user personas. You also have experience leading teams that build solutions for external partners and implement data integrations. Your leadership experience includes successfully managing and inspiring high-performing engineering teams, driving innovation, and fostering a collaborative work culture. You exhibit strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.

Your Impact

  • Partner with product counterparts in the marketplace and partnerships areas to drive outcomes in alignment with our business goals
  • Drive the development of an exceptional payment experience that is flexible and friction-free
  • Provide direction, leadership, and rally the engineering team toward delivering exceptional marketplace and partner experience
  • Build team structure, practices and workflow necessary to support growth of Marketplace and Partnerships
  • Collaborate with the product team and engineering managers to plan, build and ship value to customers
  • Continuously monitor, improve, and drive engineering practices necessary to deliver consistent, high-quality releases
  • Partner with mobile engineering counterparts to ensure alignment and planning against delivery goals
  • Work with quality & platform engineering leaders to ensure you team delivers quality solutions that are highly secure, reliable, and available
  • Drive engineering practices within your team in alignment with our engineering philosophies
  • Effectively manage performance of your broader team via regular 1-on-1’s, performance reviews and constructive feedback
  • Forecast and recommend hiring needs based on product goals and skillset gaps
  • Recruit top engineering talent as needed and ensure high levels of engagement and retention
  • Develop future leaders by identifying potential and providing necessary opportunities and support

Your Experience

  • 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams as a Director or as a Senior Engineering Manager
  • Strong B2B business acumen with deep expertise building marketplace ecosystems and developing partner focused solutions
  • Knowledge and know-how to build friction free payment systems, gateways and workflows
  • Prior experience engaging and building relationship with external vendors or business partners as necessary in an engineering capacity
  • Experience leading teams indirectly by managing managers and driving outcomes
  • Excellent track record of leading initiatives, managing projects and delivering results
  • Strong passion and track record of attracting, developing, and retaining engineers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Considered a Plus

  • You know a thing or two about the fleet management industry
  • Experience building application using Ruby-on-Rails, React
  • Prior experience with payments industry, payment gateways
  • Prior experience leading working the teams that build mobile apps
  • Experience or understanding of secure mobile development practices
