Engineering Manager, Marketplace
Description
Fleetio is looking for an Engineering Manager with a focus on the Marketplace area of our business. You will lead small squads focused on specific solutions such as shop integration, vendor portal, and flexible payment solutions.
Fleetio’s Marketplace is a comprehensive platform that facilitates our customers easily finding and purchasing a wide range of products and services essential to their fleet operations. Our shop integrations allows our customers to efficiently manage external maintenance activities and get insight into service data. Our Fleetio Pay solution helps Fleet Managers to efficiently manage service work, and provide simple and hassle-free ways to make payments. We also help vendors keep shop details current and monitor received payments from Fleetio customer transactions all in one place. Learn more about how our shop integrations work here.

This is a remote opportunity and is open to candidates in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

Your leadership experience includes successfully managing and inspiring high-performing engineering teams, driving innovation, and fostering a collaborative work culture. You exhibit strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
Your Impact
- Partner with product managers to drive outcomes in alignment with our business goals
- Contribute to building product roadmap and OKRs with clear goals and outcomes
- Manage project and initiatives against delivery timelines to ensure timely delivery
- Lead the team to deliver quality solutions and outcomes for our customers and vendors
- Collaborate with mobile counterparts to deliver a cohesive solution across the web and mobile platforms
- Develop and mentor talent towards professional growth
- Effectively manage your team’s performance via regular 1-on-1’s, performance reviews and constructive feedback
- Work with Senior/Staff Engineers to enable you team to produce well-tested, maintainable, and performant code
- Foster a positive and productive work environment that boosts the engagement and morale of your team
- Review your teams' code as necessary to ensure quality, maintain consistency, and share knowledge
- Advocate for and mentor the team on engineering best practices and development patterns
- Partner with other engineering leaders to contribute to building a great engineering culture and practices
- Communicate timely updates and progress on initiatives to relevant stakeholders
- Recruit top engineering talent as needed for your team
Your Experience
- 2+ years of experience leading engineering teams as an Engineering Manager or as a Tech Lead
- Proven experience building React, Ruby-on-Rails applications (preferred) or similar frameworks
- Prior experience building marketplace solutions in an engineering capacity (as an engineer or as a technical lead)
- Knowledge and know-how to build friction-free payment systems, gateways and workflows
- Prior experience engaging and building relationship with external vendors or business partners as necessary in an engineering capacity
- Strong track record of leading engineers to deliver roadmap initiatives and achieve outcomes
- Strong passion and track record of attracting, developing, and retaining engineers
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

- You know a thing or two about the fleet management industry
- Prior experience with payments industry, payment gateways
- Prior experience leading working the teams that build mobile apps
- Experience or understanding of secure mobile development practices
