Senior UX Researcher

We’re seeking a Senior UX Researcher to strengthen and elevate our research foundation at Fleetio, building on the impactful research already led by our talented product designers. As our first dedicated UX researcher, you will focus primarily on Fleetio's marketplace, especially the supply side, and will be essential in:

  • Leading hands-on research initiatives – Plan, recruit, schedule, conduct and synthesize ethnographic and onsite research to uncover valuable user insights and solve complex product challenges.
  • Enhancing Fleetio's research practice – Develop processes, methodologies, and standards that elevate and unify research across our product teams, setting a high bar for quality and consistency.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally – Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to develop a deep understanding of our B2B users, aligning product decisions with user needs and market demands.
  • Building empathy and user advocacy – Champion user-centered design throughout the company, fostering a strong understanding of our customers and their unique workflows.
  • Mentoring and teaching research skills – Empower team members to deepen their research expertise, promote a unified, research-driven culture, and ensure insights are integrated across the product lifecycle.

Your Impact

  • Establish and refine research processes – Set standards to enhance the quality and impact of research across Fleetio's product teams.
  • Lead impactful research initiatives – Conduct ethnographic and on-site research to uncover deep user insights.
  • Own our research repository – Ensure insights are accessible and actively used throughout the organization.
  • Partner cross-functionally – Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to align research initiatives with business goals.
  • Advocate for the user – Champion empathy and user-centered decision-making across teams.
  • Developing and refining personas, jobs-to-be-done (JTBD), and user journeys – creating foundational resources that guide product decisions and improve our understanding of user needs.
  • Teach research skills – Elevate team members' research expertise and foster a research-driven culture.

Your experience

  • 5+ years of professional UX research experience, ideally within a B2B SaaS environment
  • Proven experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, particularly in hands-on, onsite research.
  • Experience working autonomously, particularly in cross-functional settings, or as a team of one.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills, with a passion for mentoring others and building a research culture.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Familiarity with modern research tools (e.g., Sprig, Marvin, Lyssna), with a willingness to experiment with emerging methodologies.
  • Exceptional user advocacy and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex insights into actionable recommendations.
  • (Nice to have) Any relevant experience in the transportation industry.
