Principal Data Analyst, General

Remote (U.S.)

Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2024 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?

About the role

As a Principal Data Analyst, reporting to our Head of Analytics, you will play a key role in helping shape Flex's future by supporting key analytics projects across our Customer Support, Finance, Go-To-Market, Marketing, Product, and Strategy teams. You will help navigate some of the most challenging problems across the Flex business, bringing data-driven insights and clarity to ambiguous problems. The ideal candidate for this role is intensely curious, holds themselves to a high analytical bar, while simultaneously balancing analytical rigor with speed and ultimate business impact.

We currently have multiple roles open across Flex Analytics and are prioritizing analyst support for Customer Support and Product domains.

What you’ll do

  • Proactively explore data across multiple Flex domains to identify relationships and trends that will inform the future direction of the business
  • Create and improve dashboards, visualizations, and automations that help us scale analytics across Flex
  • Partner with functional area leaders across the business to uncover insights and opportunities, as well as root causing drivers of performance
  • Working closely with the rest of Analytics and Business Intelligence to improve our source of truth across both internal and client-facing data
  • Combine data and strategy - being that bridge between what the data is telling us and the implications for strategic priorities within different areas of the business

Key qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a quantitative focus (Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, etc.)
  • 6+ years of experience using analytical and statistical methods to support and drive critical business outcomes
  • Effective communicator who can break down complex technical concepts into simple business vernacular
  • Demonstrated success supporting and influencing business strategy across from an analytics perspective
  • Advanced experience with SQL, business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Mode, Looker, etc.)
  • Experience with ETL processes, especially utilizing dbt and Snowflake
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; must be very comfortable with data analysis and driving decision making
  • Biased for action - doesn’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough, willing to build a first prototype and improve based on learnings, etc.
  • Have a natural curiosity to dive into the details and have a strong analytical mindset
The salary compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.
  • For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $170,000-$186,000
  • For all other states, the base salary pay range will be $153,000-$167,000

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
