Manager, Marketing Compliance
Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2025 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?
About the role
Flex is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Product Marketing Compliance Manager to join our fast-growing FinTech company. As a key member of our Legal & Compliance team, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end marketing compliance process, ensuring all product marketing initiatives align with federal and state regulations, internal standards, and industry best practices.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of regulatory compliance and creative execution, with a passion for empowering innovation while upholding legal integrity. You’ll work cross-functionally with teams across Product, Marketing, Risk, and Operations to provide compliance guidance on new initiatives, review marketing materials, and help shape customer-facing communications that are clear, fair, and compliant.
This role is available to candidates in either the NYC Metro Area (hybrid, with on-site expectations of 3 days per week at our New York headquarters) or the San Francisco Bay Area (satellite office). Candidates relocating to the NYC or SF area may be eligible for relocation assistance.
What you’ll do
- Serve as the compliance lead for marketing and advertising initiatives, partnering closely with Product, Marketing, Risk, Customer Experience, and Legal.
- Review and provide clear, actionable feedback on a wide range of marketing collateral, including websites, emails, paid ads, social media, presentations, and brochures.
- Manage and continuously improve the marketing review process, including intake, documentation, approvals, and archiving.
- Monitor applicable federal and state lending and marketing laws and proactively advise on regulatory changes.
- Work with Compliance, Product, and external counsel to support compliant product development and go-to-market strategies.
- Help ensure money movement, payment flows, and customer communications are aligned with regulatory standards and payment network rules.
- Provide practical, business-oriented guidance to internal stakeholders, translating complex regulatory concepts into accessible, actionable advice.
- Support the implementation of regulatory and operational changes across existing and future product lines.
- Collaborate on internal policies, procedures, and controls that support compliant marketing and customer communication practices.
- Manage ad hoc compliance initiatives and contribute to a culture of accountability, humility, and collaboration.
Key qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant compliance experience in financial services or fintech, with exposure to both established institutions and growth-stage companies preferred.
- Hands-on experience supporting marketing review, advertising compliance, or product launch processes.
- Solid working knowledge of key consumer protection laws and regulations, including ECOA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, SCRA/MLA, GLBA, UDAAP, and Fair Lending.
- Familiarity with consumer lending, payments, or embedded finance products.
- Experience operating within or supporting fintech-bank partnership models is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to deliver clear guidance in a fast-moving environment.
- High attention to detail, strong project management abilities, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Comfort working independently, managing multiple workstreams, and adapting to shifting priorities.
