Senior Manager, Accounting

We are looking for a Sr. Manager, Accounting to be based out of our Seattle, WA office (3x days a week). The Sr. Manager, Accounting will lead our accounting and billing functions. As the highest-ranking accountant in the organization, you will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of all financial processes to support our business growth. This position reports to the Head of Finance and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial systems while managing a streamlined team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Act as the functional owner for all accounting operations.
  • Team Management: Provide direct supervision, development, coaching, and performance management for the Accounting and Billing teams, ensuring the right people are in the right roles to deliver high-quality results.
  • Financial Reporting & Revenue Recognition: Own the month, quarter, and year-end close procedures, ensuring the accuracy of revenue recognition and all financial statement line items in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Audit & Compliance: Lead the annual financial audit and technical accounting research, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
  • Tax Compliance & Strategy: Oversee federal and state income tax compliance, including the coordination of annual filings and R&D credit analyses with external tax partners.
  • Billing Strategy: Oversee the design and optimization of workflows for the billing team to ensure accurate revenue-related processing and timely collections.
  • Treasury Operations: Manage daily treasury functions, including the oversight of banking relationships and fees, while informing the development of banking strategies for leadership approval.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain a control environment that meets standards for public company readiness, documenting business workflows and accounting policies.
  • Strategic Process Improvement: Proactively identify gaps and opportunities in financial systems, creating scalable mechanisms and best practices to increase efficiency leveraging A solutionsI.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner effectively with the FP&A team to ensure accounting data accurately informs budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Typically requires 10+ years of related accounting experience, with a proven track record of managing teams and multiple process areas.
  • Education & Certification: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and technical accounting research.
  • Strategic Management: Ability to set a vision and design team structures that meet long-term business goals while handling complex escalations and risks.
  • Critical Thinking: High judgment in making trade-offs between short-term needs and long-term sustainability.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate complex financial problems and solutions clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Systems and Tools: Accounting system expertise and advanced Excel and/or GSheet skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA Designation is highly preferred
  • Experience using Netsuite 
  • Experience using Ramp

The salary range for this role is $132,250 to $185,900 depending, in part, on candidate location. Recruiting will confirm the specific range for the candidate location in the initial phone screen. All employees receive company equity as part of their compensation package.
