Develop and strengthen financial processes that create client value

The opportunity:

You’ll join Flexport’s Finance team, which strategically manages our P&L and ensures merchants are accurately billed for every value‑added service. Our team develops and strengthens financial processes that create client value, builds robust frameworks for sustainable growth, and finds creative financial solutions that unlock new business opportunities. As we scale, billing accuracy and transparency are critical to fair merchant charges, operational accountability, and ongoing margin improvement.

Based at our San Bernardino warehouse, you’ll partner daily with Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and Product/Engineering to configure, validate, and reconcile activity‑based billing across our fulfillment network. You’ll solve challenges around undocumented services, system constraints, and scalable processes—and in doing so, make a direct impact on our bottom line while honing your skills in logistics finance, data analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration.

You will:

  • Drive manual billing activities for key accounts
  • Design and implement rates and charges for warehouse activities not covered by existing standard rate cards, partnering with Finance and Operations to ensure alignment with service costs and market benchmarks.
  • Monitor and analyze fulfillment activity data (WMS logs, production reports) to confirm every labor‑intensive and value‑added service is captured and translated into correct billing events
  • Develop and update activity‑based billing rules; configure rate cards and billing settings to support custom services (relabeling, steaming, GOH, repackaging, etc.) and standardize across sites
  • Coordinate with warehouse operations teams to uncover unbilled services, reduce billing leakage, and recommend process optimizations to capture incremental revenue
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies using data analysis to identify process gaps, system issues, or unlogged activities, partnering with Operations, Customer Service, and Finance
  • Compare billing outputs against financial reports, WMS activity, and labor logs; deliver audit‑ready variance analyses to support the financial close and explain key drivers
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that track billed vs. unbilled activity, analyze trends and inefficiencies, and highlight opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Create and update billing documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials; deliver sessions to Operations, Finance, and Customer Service teams to ensure process adherence

You should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience of leveraging financial and data analytics to solve business problems
  • Proficiency in leveraging SQL, excel modeling and business intelligence tools like Metabase, Looker, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and ability to creatively solve problems
  • High ownership and ability to thrive in a fast moving environment - you will be juggling multiple projects at the same time
  • Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills to manage cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience in logistics industry is preferred but not required
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry.
