The Job

As a Machine Learning Engineer in the Engagement tech team at Flo, you will play a critical role in enhancing customer experiences through advanced machine learning algorithms. You will be part of a dynamic and cross-functional team focused on improving relevance and personalization by leveraging cutting-edge recommender systems. Your expertise will help us tackle complex technical challenges while driving impactful solutions that meet our business objectives.
Your Experience
Must have:
- 4+ years of experience in machine learning, with a focus on recommender systems.
- Strong knowledge of classical machine learning and neural networks.
- Proven experience deploying ML models in production systems.
- Strong computer science foundation.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience building and managing data pipelines to operate on Big Data using distributed computing or streaming frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Experience navigating high-impact systems under challenging circumstances.
Nice to have:
- Experience working in the MarTech domain in the context of the mobile app.
- Experience with reinforcement learning models.
- Experience with any SQL syntax.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning algorithms to enhance relevance and personalization within our marketing initiatives, primarily focusing on recommender systems that directly influence user engagement.
- Navigate ambiguity to identify and prioritize the most impactful areas across the company where machine learning can be applied effectively. Your efforts will focus on uncovering opportunities for recommender systems that can deliver significant improvements in customer experience.
- Work closely with multiple domain teams, including analytics, engineering, product management, and UX/UI design. Leverage diverse perspectives to ensure seamless integration of machine learning solutions that align with business goals.
- Address technical challenges related to dependencies between different components and teams. Ensure that machine learning models are integrated smoothly into existing infrastructure while maintaining scalability and maintainability.
- Analyze and preprocess large datasets to create a structured format suitable for model training. Identify opportunities for data enrichment and improvement to enhance model performance.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of implemented models. Utilize A/B testing and other methodologies to measure performance, iterating based on feedback and results to optimize outcomes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of methodologies and processes while fostering a culture of knowledge sharing within the team to promote best practices and facilitate onboarding.

Salary Range - per year
£80,000 - £150,000 GBP
Ranges may vary depending on your skills, competencies and experience.
