Overview
The HVAC Installation Technician is responsible for installing heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems in residential and commercial settings. This role ensures that HVAC systems are installed according to manufacturer specifications, local codes, and company standards while delivering high-quality work and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Install HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, rooftop units (RTUs), and mini-splits
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to plan and execute installations
- Assemble, mount, and secure HVAC components, ensuring proper alignment and operation
- Connect electrical wiring, piping, ducting, and refrigerant lines according to manufacturer specifications and local codes
- Test installed systems for proper operation, efficiency, and safety
- Diagnose and troubleshoot installation issues, and adjust as needed
- Ensure all work areas are clean and safe during and after installations
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding system operation, maintenance, and warranty information
- Collaborate with team members, project managers, and other trades to ensure timely and accurate project completion
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in proper working order
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years of HVAC installation experience (residential and/or commercial)
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- HVAC Certification (Technical school certification preferred)
- EPA Certification a plus
- Valid Driver’s License with ability to pass company’s MVR requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly and adhere to all safety guidelines
- Familiarity with building codes, HVAC equipment manufacturers, and industry standards
