Flow Traders is looking for a Senior Research Engineer to join us in our Hong Kong office. As a Senior Research Engineer, you will be responsible for helping to lead the development of our trading model research framework and its integration with our platform for deploying/running those models in production. You'll be responsible for expanding the current (limited) scope of the framework and platform to become the global standard way of training, consuming, combining, and transforming any data source in a data-driven systematic way.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in the development and global rollout of our research platform for defining and training mid term alpha models through various optimization procedures
  • Integration of research platform for deploying and running those models in production
  • Develop tools/frameworks for use by quants and technical traders to test hypotheses and tune/develop data-driven/systematic portfolio optimization
  • Work with quants and technical traders to further refine requirements, collect feedback, and iterate on design and implementation of new research tools and platform improvements
  • Support local Quants during platform usage

What You Need to Succeed

The ideal candidate is a full stack developer with a deep understanding of data engineering and model optimization/management/scheduling.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in MLOps and Machine Learning Engineering
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in data science, analytics, or related fields
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, with some experience in libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing end-to-end machine learning pipelines, including data preprocessing, model training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in data wrangling, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis.
  • Familiarity with databases and query languages for data extraction and transformation.
  • Understanding of and experience with modern software development practices and tools (e.g. Agile, version control, automated testing, CI/CD, observability)
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (e. g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e. g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field (computer science, machine learning, statistics, mathematics, physics, or a related STEM field)
