Flight itinerary (About the role):

The FLYR Digital Customer Experience (DCX) Engineering team is building an API-First Product to enable travel use cases that are impossible to achieve using today's tools. These API’s will be consumed by the Mobile and Web applications used by millions of airline customers globally. 

As the Director of Software Engineering you will lead and oversee the engineering organization that is building this future. Ideally, you have experience in B2B SaaS, a track record of leading and growing high-performing engineering teams and a passion for building high quality Software. 

What your journey will look like (Responsibilities) :

  • Lead and manage teams of Engineering Managers, Engineers and Architects 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product teams and internal stakeholders to drive the engineering efforts
  • Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
  • Build and retain a world-class global engineering team through mentorship, guidance, and career development
  • Create a strong engineering culture that attracts talent
  • Scale the organization by fostering autonomous teams
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest software engineering trends and technologies
  • Identify, communicate and mitigate technical risks
  • Mentor and develop Engineering Managers and Staff  level Engineers 

What to pack for this trip: (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering,
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role e.g. as a Senior Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering
  • Experience in leading multiple related teams and owning strategy across their organisation. 
  • Extensive experience working with distributed teams
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions on time and within budget
  • Ability to inspire and motivate a team of software engineers and drive major organizational initiatives.
  • Ability to drive productivity and quality improvements, as well as other technical or process initiatives that require coordination across multiple teams and groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-engineering stakeholders
  • Strong technical background in building and managing infrastructure at scale
