Flight Itinerary (About The Role)

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join the QA team and lead our testing initiatives. In this role you will work closely with product teams to ensure our software products meet the highest quality standards. This role requires a deep understanding of software testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and tools. You will be instrumental in driving the adoption of best practices in testing and quality assurance, ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Your responsibilities will include writing test plans, developing testing strategies, test automation, tool research and implementing best QA practices.

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join the QA team and lead our testing initiatives across multiple features..

In this role, you will collaborate closely with development, QA, and operations teams to design and implement large scale automation solutions. You will be instrumental in overseeing and coordinating automation efforts, managing smaller teams, and leading innovation in new techniques and best practices.

Your responsibilities will include writing test plans, developing testing strategies, participating in the hiring process of future team members, and ensuring that our systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

What Your Journey Will Look Like (Responsibilities)

  • You will be part of a self-organizing QA team and collaborate closely with product teams composed of Technical Product Owner, fullstack/frontend/backend application developers and QA Engineers.
  • You will collaborate with Technical Product Owners, Software Architects to plan testing initiatives by analysis of requirements, technical specifications and design of test plan and test cases.
  • Implement test automation strategies for microservice architecture to increase test coverage and reduce manual testing efforts.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and frameworks to ensure efficient and repeatable testing processes
  • Perform manual testing for complex scenarios where automation is not feasible, ensuring thorough coverage of all system functionalities.
  • Conduct different types of tests including automated end to end, API, contract and performance tests.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation like test plans, test cases, test scripts.
  • Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking tools, and work closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with DevOps teams to ensure smooth and reliable deployment processes.
  • Maintain multiple automation tools aligned and up to date (e.g., ensuring API requirement changes such as new headers are consistently applied across Robot Framework, JMeter, and Postman).
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to QA engineers, promoting best practices in testing and quality assurance.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing tools to enhance product quality.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and tools in software testing and quality assurance, and continuously improve the testing processes.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support timely and high quality delivery of features for product releases in the context of a larger product development organization.

What To Pack For This Trip (Qualifications)

  • Degree and successful industry experience in either Computer Science or Computer Engineering,
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in test automation or similar position,
  • Very good experience with manual and automated testing during full development life cycle with a focus on an API testing,
  • Deep experience with manual and automated testing E2E testing, API testing, Functional testing, Regression test, smoke test and performance testing.
  • Hands on experience with programming languages, preferably javascript and Python.
  • Good understanding of software systems architecture based on microservices,
  • Good understanding of cloud technologies.,
  • Experience with building testing plans and strategies, writing test cases, triaging bugs,
  • Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) with a focus on Agile methodologies,
  • Ability to maintain and document testing artifacts and reports.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand in detail product requirements and its functionality and willingness to get deep understanding of airline domain knowledge.
  • Strong problem solving and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to share their testing expertise by conducting internal training sessions, advice on best practices or new tools, identify areas for improvement etc.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
  • Expanded Framework Knowledge: (Robot framework) and proficiency in JavaScript (alongside Python) for creating complex test scripts.
  • Advanced CI/CD: Strong ability to optimize integration with CI/CD tools and troubleshoot complex issues in automated tests to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Code Quality Tools: Extensive experience with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube.
