The Opportunity 

The mission of the Commerce organization is to deliver client delight, in dynamic partnership. As the Senior Director, Commerce, you will set and execute the strategy for Flywheel’s Commerce team across the accountable clients, with ultimate responsibility for the revenue and margin target of those businesses. This role is new integrated into the Commerce organization and enables accountability for the service delivery elements of our Commerce offeringsThis exciting role requires exceptional domain expertise, communication, strategic account management, and interpersonal skills 

Our client’s partner with us to accelerate performance in the fastest growing channel they have to market - Digital Commerce.  For many of our clients, this engagement spans the Flywheel portfolio of products and services. We know that Flywheel’s capabilities enable faster, more comprehensive decision-making, execution, and optimization when operated as a single, integrated entity. An integrated approach to delivering these capabilities deepens our relationship with these clients, expands our partnership and drives outsized growth for our clients and Flywheel. The Senior Director Commerce brings this integrated approach to life for some of our top strategic clients. Simply put, the goal of the role is to maximize the business results of our clients and ourselves by bringing together the power of Flywheel products & services, being accountable for sales across Digital Commerce for these clients. The aim of the role is to leverage the strength of our client partnerships to explore the ever-changing digital commerce landscape and how Flywheel must evolve tools, products, services, structure and ways of working to remain ahead of this change. 

This role reports into Vice President, Media. It requires close collaboration with our teams in all areas of Flywheel’s business to ensure success.   

What You Will Do: 

The Senior Director Commerce will work closely with the Commerce Leadership Team (SVPs, VP’s etc) and the Commercial Lead to continue to define and refine what delivering best in class service to our clients look like across Flywheel. The role will hold the overall relationship with the client(s) for Flywheel. While this role is not responsible for delivering every element of service to the client(s), they are ultimately accountable for client delight and retention as well as revenue and margin targets. The role holder must strongly understand the client's needs and be able to effectively advocate for them with our external partners and Flywheel colleagues. 

  • Lead the designated clients at Flywheel, with ultimate responsibility for the revenue and margin targets of those accounts. 
  • Collaborate with Omnicom leaders where joint clients are held across their networks of agencies to ensure an integrated product and service offering for clients.  
  • Interface directly with Amazon and other retailers for responsible client - ensuring Flywheel’s offering remains on the cutting edge of the industry, delivering ‘the voice of the client’. 
  • Constantly seek ways to improve team’s operating efficiency, optimizing time spent vs. quality of delivery, while maintaining work/life balance across the team 
  • Collaborate with Flywheel leaders across all services for the accountable clients, with particular attention to retail and media, to ensure smooth teamwork and delivering client delight. 
  • Partner with the commercial team for all RFPs within accountable domain to ensure client retention and facilitate expansion of current services provided by Flywheel. 
  • Foster a positive team culture that prioritizes collaboration and trust.  
  • Partner with Custom Analytics and Product teams to ensure Flywheels Commerce offering is well understood 
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales teams to ensure Flywheel’s offerings are well positioned and understood in the industry by delivering ‘the voice of the client”. 
  • Build and maintain strong executive relationships with accountable clients. 
  • Travel commensurate with servicing accountable clients will be expected.

Who You Are: 

  • 7+ years of Digital Commerce and CPG/FMCG experience. 
  • Bachelors Degree or higher  
  • Industry leading domain expertise in both Retail and Media functions with a proven track record of delivering results 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, inspire and influence diverse audiences including at the executive level. 
  • Solution oriented mindset that has a vigor for not just identifying complex problems but solving them. 
  • Strong team management experience, with demonstrated leadership, mentoring and coaching skills 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity with a proven ability to quickly adapt to fast-paced and ever-changing environments  
  • Results driven with strong customer focus 
  • Team player with a genuine desire to contribute to the overall success of Flywheel and Omnicom 
  • Intellectually curious and never satisfied with “the way things are” today. Passionate about driving organizational change. 
  • Bias for action and ability to achieve objectives and goals with optimistic energy and tenacity  
  • Proactive and independently motivated - doesn’t wait to be told what to do

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
 
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
