The Role

As the Senior Manager, Engineering of Flywheel India, you will play a key leadership role in overseeing and supporting product and engineering teams based in Bangalore. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in the region, including project management and client services, to ensure smooth operations and alignment with Flywheel's objectives. 

With plans to expand the team significantly in the next 24 months, we're seeking a candidate with experience managing medium-sized teams and contributing to the growth and scaling of product and engineering functions within dynamic organizations. 

In this role, you will focus on operational efficiency, team development, and ensuring alignment between Flywheel’s global strategy and the India-based teams. The ideal candidate will have solid leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to contribute to cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment. 

This role will report to the Chief Product & Technology Office, Flywheel Commerce Network. 

What You Will Do: 

Team Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Act as a key liaison between Flywheel’s global teams and Flywheel India, ensuring effective communication and collaboration on key initiatives. 
  • Support the implementation of Flywheel’s strategic initiatives within the India teams by translating goals into actionable plans. 
  • Foster a strong team culture that aligns with Flywheel’s values and encourages collaboration, innovation, and accountability. 
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and team development efforts to ensure a high-performing and motivated workforce. 

Program Delivery & Operations 

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of projects across product and engineering teams, ensuring quality and timeliness. 
  • Oversee the implementation of project management practices that drive predictable delivery of software products. 
  • Monitor team performance and operational metrics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and SLAs. 

Scaling & Capability Building 

  • Assist in scaling product and engineering teams by supporting recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts. 
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify capability gaps and implement strategies to address them. 
  • Work closely with the recruitment team (local and global) to attract top talent that aligns with Flywheel’s needs. 

Product & Engineering Support 

  • Support the execution of Flywheel’s technology strategy in collaboration with global product and engineering leaders. 
  • Promote the adoption of engineering best practices, including quality assurance, security, and scalability. 
  • Contribute to the refinement of product management practices, ensuring teams are equipped to meet client needs effectively. 
  • Leverage data to track team performance, identify improvement opportunities, and optimize workflows. 

Who You Are: 

  • Experience in an engineering leadership role within technology-driven organizations. 
  • Experience managing teams of 50–100 full-time employees, preferably in a high-growth environment. 
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and modern engineering practices. 
  • Familiarity with AI technologies or eCommerce platforms is a plus. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies. 
  • Proven track record in managing budgets and resources effectively. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and alignment across global teams. 
  • Demonstrated ability to implement operational improvements and enhance team performance.

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
 
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
