Job Summary

The Lead Construction Specialist, Painting and Finishes, is a specialized, detail-oriented position within the Facilities team, responsible for overseeing and executing high-quality painting and finishing work on a private estate.  Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, Construction, the Lead Construction Specialist will serve as a crew leader for all tasks involving painting coatings, finishes, staining, drywall finishing, and related interior and exterior detail work.  This role includes coordinating with team members, preparing surfaces, applying various finishes, and ensuring durability, aesthetic quality, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.  The Lead Construction Specialist is expected to set the standard in craftsmanship and mentor others in the execution of finishing trades.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, scope development, surface inspection, and materials selection for finish projects (10%)
  • Prepare, execute, and finalize painting and finishing projects (65%)
  • Lead painting crews and site finish activities (10%)
  • Maintain finishing tools, spray equipment, and work areas (5%)
  • Inventory and purchasing management (10%)

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead preparation and application of paint, stains, sealants, protective coatings, drywall finishing, caulking, and surface repairs
  • Evaluate site conditions and determine appropriate materials and methods for best results
  • Lead and support Construction Specialists performing painting and finish work
  • Mix and match paints and finishes to desired colors, textures, and tones
  • Safely operate and lead others in the use of ladders, sprayers, sanders, and hand/power tools
  • Coordinate with subcontractors or outside finishers, as directed
  • Maintain paint finishing material inventory and order supplies as needed
  • Keep finishing tools and storage areas clean, organized, and in working order
  • Perform related tasks as assigned in general construction or renovation projects
  • Uphold a high standard of jobsite cleanliness, finish quality, and worksite safety

Job Skills & Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of painting systems, coating products, and finishing tools
  • Highly skilled in surface preparation, drywall patching, sanding, priming, and finish applications
  • Experience with multiple finishing methods (brush, roll, spray) and coating types (latex, oil, epoxy, etc)
  • Ability to lead and train others in paint and finish techniques
  • Keen eye for color matching, surface texture, and visual detail
  • Understanding of manufacturer specifications cure time, and environmental factors
  • Familiarity with VOC standards and safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Competent in estimating materials and calculating coverage requirements
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficient in safe ladder and scaffold use; ability to work heights
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to interpret finish schedules and plans
  • Valid driver license

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, squatting
  • Working in cramped spaces and on step-stools/ladders
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Working outdoors with or without wet, dusty or windy weather conditions
  • Working with and around combustible and/or hazardous materials, using proper PPE
  • Able to drive a side by side “Utility” vehicle (UTV)
  • Able to drive a full-size work truck with trailer
  • Able to operate machinery and heavy equipment

Salary Range

$51 - $59 USD
