Senior Sous Chef

The Senior Sous Chef is responsible for managing all aspects of kitchen operations on a private family estate, delivering high-quality, personalized meals and ensuring an exceptional culinary experience tailored to the family’s preference and dietary needs. Key responsibilities include menu planning ,staff supervision, maintaining all kitchen equipment and food safety and sanitation compliance. The Head Chef monitors inventory and approves all ordering. This role requires a high level of discretion, professionalism, adaptability, and culinary excellence along with proven experience in team leadership and administrative oversight.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Design and execute seasonal, personalized menus based on the family’s preferences and dietary needs
- Collaborate with the Agriculture and Meat Program teams to incorporate ranch-grown crops, cattle, and other ingredients
- Emphasize farm-to-table practices, and seasonal cooking techniques
- Adapt menus based on seasonal availability, dietary trends, and family feedback
- Develop and oversee lunch menu for ranch staff
- Ensure all meals meet high standards for quality, taste, and presentation
- Oversee daily kitchen activities, including food prep, cooking, and plating
- Hire, train, supervise, and mentor kitchen staff
- Manage kitchen scheduling and team coverage for operations
- Lead regular kitchen meetings, communicate updates and address issues
- Maintain strong communication with front of house staff, event planners and the family office
- Maintain a clean safe, and organized kitchen adhering to all safety and health regulations
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and storage to ensure compliance
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all staff are properly trained in sanitation standards
- Monitor inventory and approve all supply and food purchases; delegate ordering to designated staff
- Partner with the Agriculture team to coordinate harvest schedules and ingredient availability
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency
- Review event orders to ensure proper kitchen preparation and staffing
- Maintain accurate records for inventory, purchasing, and scheduling, ensuring efficient kitchen operations
Education Requirements
- Degree from a recognized accredited culinary program, or a college degree/hospitality certifications specializing in hotel/restaurant management, or equivalent professional experience is required
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Chef in a private household, fine dining, or luxury hospitality setting
- Skilled in sourcing and overseeing contracted chefs
- Committed to delivering white glove customer service within culinary operations
- Excellent leadership and management abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Experienced in training, motivating and developing kitchen staff
- Familiar with inventory control and management systems
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient with Google Suite
Physical Demands & Working Conditions

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Salary Range
$163,000 - $225,000 USD
