Beach Water Person (Seasonal On Call)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Water Safety & Emergency Response

  • Serve as a Beach Lifeguard for adults and children, maintaining proactive and preventative water safety oversight.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all water safety matters, including both preventative actions and active emergency response situations.
  • Provide water safety guidance and support to participants during all beach and ocean activities.
  • Maintain readiness and operational condition of all Beach Lifeguard safety gear and rescue equipment.
  • Communicate ocean safety concerns and operational updates promptly through appropriate communication channels.

Guest Experience & Activity Instruction

  • Lead and instruct water activities including, but not limited to, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), canoe paddling, snorkeling, and other ocean-based activities.
  • Assist participants with activity-related requests, equipment needs, and safety support to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Support a positive guest experience through professional interaction, engagement, and operational support.

Operational Readiness & Equipment Management

  • Assemble, organize, transport, and mobilize equipment necessary to execute daily operations and activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of vessels, vehicles, equipment, and work areas.
  • Contribute to overall operational efficiency and preparedness for daily activities and changing ocean conditions.

Communication & Documentation

  • Submit daily ocean reports and contribute accurately to daily operational logs and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain diligent communication within daily operational threads regarding water activities, safety updates, and operational needs.
  • Ensure timely, professional, and direct communication with relevant personnel regarding operational matters and safety concerns.

Teamwork, Compliance & Additional Support

  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support safe and seamless participant experiences.
  • Adhere to all departmental Team Agreements, SOGs, SOPs, EAPs, SIPs, and operational standards.
  • Support additional operational requests and responsibilities as assigned by the Water Activities & Safety Manager and Team Leads.

  • Safety & Observation: Strong observational ability with a proactive focus on identifying and mitigating safety risks. Proven experience maintaining ocean safety in high-stress, dynamic conditions.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory Certifications & Experience

  • Current Lifeguard and/or Water Safety Rescue Certification, or willing to obtain.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience providing water safety supervision and response in open-water or ocean environments.
  • Demonstrated experience providing water activity support and guidance (I.e. SUP, kayak, canoe paddle, spearfishing, etc)
  • Ability to maintain all required certifications and licenses in good standing.

Operational Standards

  • Must successfully pass the required entry-level fitness assessment.
  • Must successfully meet established entry-level team training standards.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in implementing all relevant Standardized Instructional Procedures (SIPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including continuing education in water safety, rescue response, CPR, and First Aid.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

(Not required, but a strong asset)

  • 3–5 years of experience as a First Responder in a professional setting.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification.

 

Salary Range

$50 - $55 USD
