What we are looking for

The Senior Analytics Engineer will be responsible for helping implement our analytics roadmap. Your expert SQL knowledge will be essential in creating efficient, repeatable, and easy to maintain queries and dashboards. You will be lead developer of the transformation layer on top of the data warehouse using DBT technologies, which will drive simpler data models, and better BI tool performance. We generate millions of data points every minute that we utilize to help our clients optimize their store operations. This is an opportunity to create a best in class data analytics solution. Reporting to the Head of Analytics you will work closely with other Business Analysts to create efficient dashboards and query results.

 

What you will do

  • Lead developer in data transformation (DBT), semantic layer,  and data presentation (BI layer modeling)
  • Write efficient SQL queries that help answer critical business reporting questions
  • Identify data, metrics and analysis needs; including improvements in data models that power dashboards and data products
  • Implement best practices in data warehouse storage (partitions, clustering, query optimizations)
  • Operational ownership of analytics data pipelines and data integrity monitoring
  • Work to drive new data initiatives, automation of reports, and establish best practices 
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through automation and process improvements

 

What you need to be successful

  • BS and MS degree, preferably in Engineering, Math, CS or related with 5+ years work experience
  • 3+ years experience in Google BigQuery, or Snowflake
  • 2+ years experience in transform layer in DBT
  • Expert knowledge of SQL
  • Good knowledge of Python
  • Dashboard and analysis building in BI tools
  • Proven ability to manage complex data analysis
  • Excellent communication, presentation and demonstration skills
  • Recent startup experience preferred; uphold our values & mission; team player
  • Able to work in San Francisco office 2x per week

Note: Our pay bands are driven by market benchmarks in the target geography for hiring. Our posted ranges typically include multiple job levels. A candidate's level is determined by their performance throughout our talent acquisition process including technical screens, behavior interviews, presentations, work samples, and references. We will communicate transparently with the candidate at final stages regarding how we have leveled them, and what salary range that places them into. Placement within range is equally determined by education, general experience in your profession, specific experience in our domain, and your performance in the talent acquisition process.
