Who We Are

Focal Systems is a pioneering Silicon Valley startup, leading the charge in retail AI solutions. We're on a mission to automate and optimise brick-and-mortar retail using cutting-edge deep learning computer vision. Our growth has been phenomenal, more than doubling in size every year since we started.

We've already made a significant impact, with our solutions deployed at scale with some of the world's top retailers and we're expanding rapidly and looking for exceptional talent to join our journey within our UK and  European team.

We're searching for smart, creative, and passionate individuals who are eager to learn, enjoy critical thinking, share our core values, and are excited about building a great and enduring company with us.

What We Are Looking For

We're seeking a results-driven Retail Consultant to join our Customer Success Organisation on a full-time, permanent basis. In this critical role, you'll ensure our retail partners receive exceptional day-to-day support and achieve the maximum return on investment from their partnership with Focal and our Operating Systems.

You'll work closely with both new pilot programmes and our established retail clients. This will involve owning the onboarding process and ongoing engagement with their stores, while also acting as the key link between the retailer and the wider Focal team.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our customers get the most out of Focal's solutions, ultimately boosting their success and satisfaction. You'll be a vital link between our customers and our product, driving adoption and demonstrating tangible value.

Maximising Customer Utilisation You'll be instrumental in driving change management and adoption by providing an exceptional onboarding experience for Focal's customers. This means really getting to grips with their current and future operational processes, identifying any roadblocks, and actively removing barriers to utilisation at every level of their organisation. Your goal is to ensure our customers fully embrace and leverage the power of Focal.

Increasing Customer Satisfaction You'll act as the voice and champion of the customer, proactively addressing any challenges they face and prioritising their enhancement requests to directly influence Focal's product roadmap. Expect to travel to Focal enabled stores to strengthen customer engagement and adoption. You'll also facilitate internal collaboration across Focal's teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for our customers.

Demonstrating Measurable ROI to the Customer You'll serve as a strategic advisor to our customers, helping them define, implement, and adopt best practices that align with their goals. A crucial part of your role will be to quantify the improvements that Focal's solutions bring to their store operations. You'll achieve this by constantly monitoring and analysing their performance, then making proactive, data-driven recommendations that deliver clear, measurable results and help them achieve their desired outcomes.

What You Need to Be Successful

To thrive in this role, you'll bring a blend of experience, skills, and a proactive mindset. Here's what we're looking for:

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • You possess mid or senior-level experience within the retail sector, ideally in grocery. This experience should preferably include involvement in digital transformation and/or process improvement initiatives.
  • Alternatively, you have 5+ years in a retail technology client-facing role, spanning areas such as customer success, account management, consulting, project management, change management, or onboarding / training.

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and listening skills are essential to connect with all stakeholders and build strong, trusting relationships.
  • You demonstrate strategic thinking skills coupled with high intellectual curiosity, allowing you to delve deep into customer problems and align value back to their specific business objectives.
  • You embody a start-up mindset and work ethic that aligns with our company core values. You have the ability, motivation, and energy to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, often unstructured environment, both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • You must have the ability to commute to stores as required.
  • You are able to work on international projects, as needed.
  • Working proficiency in other European languages would be advantageous.

We offer significant room to grow and directly influence the future of technology in the retail industry.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
