Senior Royalty Analyst, Film & TV

Position Summary
Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman is seeking a Senior Royalty Analyst for Film & TV, ideally with experience in entertainment law and contract analysis. This position can be based out  Century City, CA area on a hybrid basis. The Royalty Analyst is responsible for assisting the department in conducting compliance examinations on behalf of our entertainment clients and other rights holders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Informal supervision of Royalty Analysts
  • Review, interpret and analyze various memos, contracts and abstracts relating to Feature Film and Television properties to ensure appropriate calculation and reporting of obligations
  • Assist with planning audit steps and budgeting for anticipated audit engagements, along with reviewing work
  • Liaise with studio representatives regarding document requests and revie
  • Prepare written report of findings including calculations of proposed adjustments and narrative describing procedures performed
  • Stay abreast of topics impacting participations, such as new exploitation platforms, international distribution, or new guild agreements
  • Organize and manipulate large electronic datasets
  • Maintain organization of electronic files and folders
  • Conduct fieldwork at local auditees' offices on a monthly basis
  • Prepare documentation request
  • Assist managers in drafting examination reports and training of analysts with respect to technical tools (Excel, websites, etc.)
  • Track progress of audit program
  • Conduct internet research
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years in a similar role is required 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Law, or Mathematics with 3+ years in a similar role is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and formulas (such as VLOOKUP and SUMIF) – bonus points for experience with Power Pivot and Power Query
  • Solid interpersonal skills and other key soft skills (i.e., communication, time management, emotional intelligence, adaptability, active listening, critical-thinking, etc.)
  • A genuine interest in the film & tv business and profit participation royalties
  • The candidate must also:
    • Be a self-motivated and detail-oriented analytical thinker
    • Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills and reading comprehension
    • Understand basic mathematical and accounting principles
    • Work well independently and in a team environment
    • Be eager to learn new skills and concepts
    • Want to help creative artists
  • While not required, experience or education in the film and television business are beneficial

This is a non-exempt, overtime eligible position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $73,050 - $82,035. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Candidate information, including education and work experience, is verified upon an offer of employment.
