Strategy Advisor

Summary 

This is a newly created position meant to be the primary point of contact for Focus Financial Partner's proprietary strategies segment. The proprietary strategies segment is an extension of Colony Investment Management, whose objective is to develop and maintain strategically important strategies for the firm’s varied client types. Because this is a new position, the strategy advisor will play an integral role in developing this new team in support of the broader growth goals of the company.   

 

Overall Responsibilities 

Client Relationship Management 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients assigned to the proprietary strategy segment. 
  • Develop communication program with end clients using approved collateral. 
  • Work with Financial Advisory team to identify financial planning opportunities. 

Select Institutional Relationship Management 

  • Maintain and modify institutional client Investment Policy Statement (IPS), understanding and documenting any special areas of focus or restrictions (i.e. ESG). 
  • Engage (inbound/outbound) with relationship stakeholders and decision-makers. 
  • Organize quarterly client review meetings/update calls whether virtual or in-person. 
  • Analyze cash flow as needed. 
  • Anticipate needs of the institutional clients based on client service model. 

 

Custom Reporting 

  • Perform manager/strategy attribution as needed. 
  • Develop and implement institutional client performance scorecard and quarterly reporting package. 

 

Marketing Support 

  • Assist the CIO and Managing Director in preparing high-quality marketing pitch decks, factsheets, and associated materials for proprietary strategy segment. 
  • Collaborate with marketing team to introduce new client engagement activities. 

 

Account Maintenance Support 

  • Understand key custodian capabilities and limitations, facilitating optimal delivery of CIM proprietary strategies. 
  • Support account opening and modification where needed. 
  • Assist with money movements and securities transactions where needed. 

 

Other 

  • Support ad hoc special projects.  
  • Serve as backup for Investment Strategy Group (ISG) in prospect and client meetings. 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years in a role that requires regular engagement with end clients. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Pursuit of an investment designation within 12 months of hiring (e.g. CFA, CAIA, CIMA, CFP) 
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.  
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills. 
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of professional and personal integrity and high ethical standards. 
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced experience in Excel functionality.
