Business Development and Marketing Coordinator

Foley Hoag seeks an organized and ambitious Business Development & Marketing Coordinator ("Coordinator") to join our Business Development team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated early-career professional to gain broad hands-on experience across marketing and business development in an award-winning and innovative international law firm. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Coordinator will play a vital role in driving the firm’s growth initiatives through strategic support of client retention, business development, and marketing programs across industry sectors. The incoming Coordinator will have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, develop valuable skills, and thrive in a supportive and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled at managing multiple stakeholders and deadlines.     

Responsibilities

Business Development & Proposals 

  • Maintain various firm master pitch, proposal and website materials 
  •  Support the full lifecycle of RFPs and new business proposals, from content gathering to final delivery 
  • Assist in competitive intelligence gathering, including performing searches using the firm’s experience database and other research tools in support of new business opportunities, client meetings, proposals, events and other business development initiatives 
  • Collect and maintain information regarding business development plans and budgets 
  • Track and report on business development activities, plans, and budgets across practice groups 

 

Marketing & Communications 

  • Collaborate with the Communications Team, on drafting of select communications and deal announcements 
  • Liaise with attorneys to facilitate content creation for external newsletters 
  • Partner with the Creative Services Team to develop marketing materials that align with the firm brand guidelines 
  • Maintain and update the department’s Intranet page 
  • Assist with the drafting, editing and proofreading of select rankings and awards submissions 

 

Event Management & Presentations 

  • Work alongside the Marketing Events Specialist to coordinate business development events, including: 
  • Invitation design and distribution 
  • Vendor management and logistics 
  • On-site support 
  • Post-event follow-up activities 
  • Design and optimize PowerPoint presentations for attorney speaking engagements, webinars, and business development opportunities 

 

Administrative Support 

  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks and provide general support to the Business Development and Marketing functions as assigned 
  • Assist Business Development team with practice and industry meeting coordination, preparation and projects  
  • Support special projects as assigned 
  • Support local (NY) business development & marketing efforts, including initiatives/events that stem from the firm’s practice groups, industry teams, and firmwide marketing and business development efforts.  

 

Qualifications  

  • Project management: Demonstrated project management experience. 
  • Client service: Ability to manage multiple projects at once and respond quickly to inquiries so as to serve as an ambassador of superior internal client service.   
  • Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written formats. 
  • Work style: Ability to prioritize competing stakeholders and deadlines with a pleasant and professional demeanor.  
  • Technical proficiencies: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Asana); and backend website and HTML basics (e.g. Kentico, Sitecore). Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical. 
  • Education and prior service: A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in marketing, communications or a related field. Experience in a law firm and/or professional services industry is preferred but not required.  

 

Other: 

  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours, including weekends, as needed 

Compensation range is $69,000 to $87,000 commensurate with related experience and qualification. The salary of the candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the firm's reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
