Manager, Pre-Sales Technical Consulting

Position Summary:

This position will play a pivotal role in leading our pre-sales technical consulting team to success. You will work cross functionally with our sales, marketing, product and customer success teams to ensure that our industry leading software and services are effectively demonstrated, understood and tailored to meet the unique needs of our current and prospective clients. Your primary responsibility will be to lead a team of highly skilled pre-sales technical consultants that support the sales team as they generate sales opportunities across North America and abroad. Your teams will drive the technical aspects of the sales process, partnering with their teammates to create state of the art, relevant and highly compelling product demonstrations that win.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of pre-sales technical consultants, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture. Assigning and monitoring work; implementing productivity standards; maintaining ethical practices. Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.

  • Presentation Strategy/Development: Develop and execute a strategic approach to solution presentations that aligns with our sales and marketing objectives. Ensure that presentations are tailored to the unique needs and challenges of prospective clients. Support the creation of persuasive and engaging presentation materials, including pitch decks, demos, and multimedia content, to effectively communicate the value of our software solutions. Support the sales/marketing teams at trade shows and in the development and delivery of webinars.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of our education technology solutions, staying current with product updates and industry trends. Be the go-to resource for product knowledge within the team. Provide guidance to revenue leaders on sales strategy, product obstacles/gaps and represent the team’s needs to executive leadership team.

  • Sales Support/Client Engagement: Collaborate with the sales team to understand client requirements, pain points, and objectives. Tailor presentations to address specific client needs and challenges. Collaborate with the sales team to understand client requirements and objectives. Translate technical features and benefits into compelling value propositions for potential clients.

  • Technical Expertise/Documentation: Ensure the development and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation, including product guides, FAQs, and whitepapers to assist both clients and internal teams. Support the timely completion of RFP’s, RFI’s, etc.

  • Product Feedback: Gather valuable insights from client interactions and share feedback with the product development team to enhance product features and usability

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Act as a mentor and coach, guiding team members in their professional growth, and providing continuous feedback and conducting regular one-on-one meetings to discuss goals, challenges, and achievements. 
  • Lead by setting a positive example, prioritizing the needs of the team, removing obstacles that hinder their success, and empowering team members by providing the tools, resources, and support they need to excel in their roles. 
  • Identify and nurture individual varying strengths and specialized abilities to foster career development and job satisfaction. 
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment, promoting open communication and a sense of belonging within the team. 
  • Set clear expectations and performance goals aligned with the broader organizational strategy, ensuring everyone understands their role in achieving company objectives. 
  • Ensure regular, clear, and transparent communication with the team about organizational updates, changes, and expectations, facilitating open dialogue and encouraging feedback from all team members. 
  • Partner with recruiting in driving recruitment processes to attract top talent and develop strategies to retain high-performing team members by recognizing achievements and creating opportunities for advancement. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience supervising/managing workflow of a team
  • Experience in the educational technology industry, (K-12 edtech preferred)
  • Experience leading pre-sales teams and developing processes to enhance the sales lifecycle required.
  • Proven ability to navigate all stages of the formal sales process with a thorough understanding of the buyer’s journey.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills to effectively engage with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and advanced technical proficiency to support sales strategies and decision-making.
