Director of Accounting
We are seeking a Director-level accounting leader with deep Sage Intacct expertise, experience in accounting operations excellence, build and optimization of accounting systems and processes including automation and AI, and strong accounting judgment. This role sits at the intersection of accounting operations, systems architecture, automation, and process design. You will own Sage Intacct strategy and administration, lead system modernization efforts, and build scalable, automated accounting infrastructure to support rapid growth.
This is not a transactional accounting role. We are looking for a systems-minded, people leader who can simplify complexity, drive automation, and build durable accounting platforms while developing and guiding a high-performing team in a rapidly scaling businesses.
A Day in the Life of a Director of Accounting
- Own the strategy, architecture, and administration of Sage Intacct, including chart of accounts, dimensionality, entities, controls, and user permissions.
- Lead the redesign of accounting structures built for legacy systems into scalable Sage Intacct best-practice configurations.
- Establish standards for journal entry logic, reducing manual processes and one-off workflows across the organization.
- Define and execute an automation roadmap, delivering interim solutions (Power Query, structured imports, VBA) that evolve into API-based integrations and automated bank feeds.
- Oversee the design of advanced reconciliation and workpaper frameworks integrating GL, bank, subledger, and merchant data.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and systems team members; set clear expectations, workflows, and documentation standards.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Engineering to improve data flows and system reliability.
- Ensure system stability during change, owning root-cause analysis, controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive GAAP compliance, audit readiness, and executive-level reporting.
What You Have:
- Proven Sage Intacct implementation and administration experience.
- Demonstrated success in building, mentoring, and leading high-performing, results-driven teams.
- Strong accounting background with hands-on operational and leadership experience.
- Advanced Excel, Power Query, and Power Pivot skills.
- Experience with banking integrations, APIs, and accounting automation.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about systems, scalability, and process design.
Preferred
- VBA scripting experience.
- Experience with Ramp, BlackLine, FloQast, Numeric, or similar platforms.
- Experience leading accounting systems in fast-growing or complex environments.
