Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Lab Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our R&D laboratory. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the scientific team by maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized lab environment.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a well-organized and efficient laboratory environment, including equipment and supply management, ordering and inventory control, and maintenance scheduling.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and improve data integrity.
Team Support and Coordination:
- Collaborate with scientists and researchers to understand their laboratory needs, and provide guidance and support as necessary.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between different teams within the company, including research, development, and manufacturing.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new laboratory personnel, ensuring adherence to best practices, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of experimental data.
- Establish and maintain documentation systems for experiments, protocols, and results, following best practices and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address any quality-related issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:
- Coordinate routine maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Liaise with equipment vendors and service providers to schedule maintenance visits and troubleshoot any equipment-related issues.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and equipment advancements, making recommendations for procurement or upgrades when necessary.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and protocols.
- Develop and enforce safety guidelines and protocols, conduct safety training, and provide ongoing support to laboratory personnel in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Stay updated on emerging health and safety regulations and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field). A Ph.D. is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Lab Manager or similar role in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or academic research laboratory.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, equipment, and techniques.
- Experience working with and managing Biosafety Level 2 practices, equipment, and facility design.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality control practices in a laboratory setting.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with team members at all levels.
- Proficient in laboratory software and data management tools.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to protocols and procedures.
- Experience in managing budgets and resources is desirable.

Salary range: $135,000 - $150,000
