Who we’re looking for:

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality of clinical care at their clinic through the direct supervision, development, and performance management of clinical staff. This role ensures clinical compliance with state and federal regulations, promotes evidence-based practices, and fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment to achieve the highest standards of client care. This is a primarily in-person role.

Compensation range: $80-95k, this salary range reflects base compensation, which is not inclusive of potential bonuses, benefits, and other company perks. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

 

What you’ll be doing:

Supervision & Staff Development

  • Provide documented clinical supervision in alignment with state standards and organizational policy:
    • Weekly for provisionally licensed clinicians (e.g., LSWs, LACs, interns).
    • Monthly for independently licensed clinicians (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.).
  • Mentor, coach, and support clinicians to foster professional growth, clinical excellence, and adherence to best practices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address deficiencies through coaching or corrective action plans.
  • Ensure staff completion of required training, continuing education, and in-services.

Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Review and co-sign documentation (intakes, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharges) to ensure compliance with regulations and organizational standards.
  • Oversee fidelity to evidence-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and co-occurring capable models of care.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, case conferences, and peer reviews.
  • Monitor caseload sizes and timeliness of documentation to ensure alignment with state and organizational expectations for access and quality.
  • Support continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives by identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.

Client Care & Direct Service

  • Conduct clinical intakes, screenings, and diagnostic assessments as needed.
  • Carry a small caseload when appropriate, maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
  • Provide clinical consultation for complex cases, ethical concerns, and treatment planning challenges.
  • Respond to client crises, conduct risk assessments, and oversee safety planning, suicide prevention, and emergency protocols.
  • Ensure smooth transitions of care, including admissions, step-downs, referrals, and discharges.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure staff adherence to client rights, confidentiality, HIPAA, and grievance procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining oversight of compliance with licensing requirements and internal program standards.
  • Assist in preparation for state, payor, and accreditation audits.
  • Track utilization, admissions, discharges, and program outcomes for reporting and performance monitoring.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a clinical leader within the IOP/OP clinic, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture.
  • Partner with the Clinic Leadership team to align clinical services with organizational goals.
  • Act as a resource for clinicians regarding complex cases, ethical dilemmas, or treatment planning challenges.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, external providers, and community partners in accordance with integrated care and care coordination standards.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Valid, unrestricted independent license in New Jersey as a mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psy.D., or Ph.D.).
  • At least 2 years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience in a behavioral health setting, with preference for IOP, OP, or higher levels of care.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a behavioral health environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DMHAS licensing standards, HIPAA, and clinical best practices (trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, co-occurring capable care).
  • Strong skills in clinical documentation review, treatment planning, and utilization management.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to provisionally licensed clinicians (e.g., LSWs, LACs, interns).
  • Proven ability to manage crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning within an outpatient or intensive outpatient setting.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to build a supportive and collaborative team culture.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, professional development, and staff training.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary care models and collaboration with external providers and community resources.
