SMARTCOMM (Thunderhead) Developer - Hybrid - Pan-India

Summary

FormativGroup is adding Smart Communications (Thunderhead) Developers to drive global package implementation and prototype development projects. This role involves leading technical streams, mentoring team members, managing project deliverables, and collaborating with clients and onsite coordinators, while handling end-to-end Smart Communications integrations and multi-channel outputs. Candidates should have strong experience with Smart Communications, Java, XML, and application servers like Tomcat or WebSphere, along with leadership and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical streams of Smart Communications (Thunderhead) implementation projects.
• Interface and communicate with onsite coordinators and customer representatives.
• Plan, monitor, and report on project deliverables and status.
• Mentor and guide junior team members on Smart Communications technical skills.
• Work on end-to-end Smart Communications integrations (appliance setup, custom template selectors, output processors, custom fonts).
• Design and develop resource files such as Layouts, Stylesheets, Templates, Data Models, Shared Content, and Script libraries.
• Develop and configure multiple channel outputs (PDF, Email, Postscript, PCL).
• Monitor and analyze Smart Communications jobs and troubleshoot job failures.
• Conduct code reviews and manage project revision history.
• Travel to customer locations as required.

Qualification

• 6–8 years of industry experience
• Hands-on experience with Smart Communications (Thunderhead) for document generation and product customizations.
• Strong experience with Core Java, JavaScript, and XML.
• Experience with Tomcat and/or WebSphere/WebLogic.
• Proven technical leadership experience managing teams of 5–10 people.
• Skilled in effort estimation, performance considerations, task management, client interfacing, and people management.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodology.
• Knowledge and experience with enterprise system integration, preferably in insurance domain.
• Excellent business communication skills with prior client-facing experience.
• BE/B.Tech/MCA & MBA preferred.

Experience preferred:

• Smart Communications certification.
• Experience integrating Smart Communications with Guidewire full suite products.
• Experience building a quality-focused culture.
• Performance management of direct reports in line with organizational policies.
• Experience training, mentoring, and fostering teamwork across project resources.
• Participation in organization-wide people initiatives.
