Position Overview
The Senior Application Development Technical Services Lead Engineer is responsible for optimizing customer processes and conditions while providing education to external customers on how to run Formerra materials. Tooling design and flow modeling. Troubleshoot issues that are raised by the customer. May be accountable for or participate in the resolution of customer complaints. Responsibilities include developing new applications or product launch testing plan and procedures, data analysis, and communication of results. Five plus years of direct, relevant experience with the ability to interact, present and influence cross functionally and globally both internally and externally with customers. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter. May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to peer group. The individual must have the professionalism, technical and business competencies, and communication skills to lead design application development efforts with OEMs and Contract Manufacturers. Up to 75% travel may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- With general supervision, provides project management for the development of new application, product launch testing plan, data analysis, and/or communication of results.
- Works with targeted and established customers to identify technical specifications required for Formerra customers.
- Responsible for internal training of sales associates, furthering their knowledge and understanding of polymers, processing, and design.
- Provide training to Formerra customers, OEM’s, and industry events as needed on materials, processing, design, and other industry related topics as needed.
- Incorporates Formerra products and services into customer applications across multiple business units.
- Work with suppliers to understand and convey OEM material / market needs.
- Documentation and preparation of product specifications incorporating Formerra products and services into customer applications.
- Manages successful resolution of customer complaints/issues.
- Initiates process improvement efforts at key customers
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
- Complex problem thinking skills in translating customer needs into solutions.
- Technical aptitude.
- Broad knowledge of solutions, materials and processing.
- Self-motivated and team player.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Position will require up to 75% travel
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Chemical Engineering, Plastics or Polymer Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years completing technical writing, customer support, research, and project management
