Position Summary
The Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible of supporting the Trade Compliance team with import and export operations for the Mexico region. This position will focus on the maintenance of import and export files electronically according to applicable government regulations; physical and digital recordkeeping; submission of Value Manifest for all import-export operations; and support with tariff classifications of manufactured and purchased products while maintaining the IMMEX license in which Formerra participates. Additionally, the Analyst will support in the development and maintenance of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with worldwide import and export laws and regulations. Some travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Support with all import and export related activities ensuring compliance with all relevant government import and export regulations and in compliance with Formerra policies and procedures.
- Submission of Value Manifest for all import-export operations in compliance with new Customs fiscal obligations.
- Maintain import and export files electronically according to applicable government regulations. Physical and digital recordkeeping.
- Support and follow-up with import and export classification of various products, software, and technology including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Controls, and Country of Origin (COO) facilitation.
- Control of expenses from customs brokers and forwarding suppliers. Filing invoices, POs, and complementary documents.
- Inventory Control Systems (Annex 24 and 30) maintenance and data feeding. Review Datastage/Glosa inventory control reports, resolve discrepancies, and ensure balances are accurate. Validate inventory balances between company ERP and SAT (DataStage/Glosa reports), and submission of monthly IMMEX Annex 24 and 30 reports.
- Assist Trade Compliance Manager with export controls and licensing as needed. Supporting with all aspects of sanctions, embargos and denied party screening process and tracking.
- Follow-up and support with Virtual Operations (opening and closure of monthly pedimentos, identifying and contacting with all IMMEX business partners, and providing invoices, proof of delivery POD, monthly reports by part number and their corresponding reconciliation.
- Support with Special Operations (A3, F4, F5, Regla Octava, VAT cert, IMMEX license, among others).
- Communicate and collaborate directly with Formerra Customer Service, Logistics, Finance, IT, and third-party Freight Forwarders/Customs Brokers.
- Support with Free Trade Agreement certificates issuing, Long Term Supplier Declarations, Certificates of Origin, Manufacturer’s Affidavits, and other additional export / import documents.
- Identify changes in applicable rules, regulations, standards, and related trends in the trade arena that are relevant to the Trade Compliance Program; recommend necessary modifications to policies and procedures.
- Conduct assigned import/export transactional validations, track, and metric results. Collect and update department KPIs.
- Support Customs Supply Chain Security Program qualification and certification. Desired experience in AEO, C-TPAT or related programs.
- Comply with Trade Compliance training sessions.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned by the Trade Compliance Manager.
Qualifications
Required
- Degree in international business, international relations, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in international trade and customs laws in a large certified public accountant or law form, Mexico customs, customs brokerage firm, or large multi-national business.
- Experience in Maquiladora and IMMEX programs, Free Trade Agreements, VAT cert.
- Experience with import-export regulatory compliance including classification (HTS), brokerage, and customs.
- Familiarity and experience with Customs Inventory Control Systems (Annex 24 and 30).
Preferred
- Import-export operations experience in US/CA.
