POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position reports to a Senior Engineer and will be a member of the corporate engineering team. The successful candidate will have an impactful role in supporting the operational needs of Fortera’s demonstration plant. The internship will provide experience and first-hand insight of the challenges and rewards of designing/building/operating a first-of-its-kind scaled up process.
The role will be primarily located in San Jose, CA with opportunities to travel to the plant site in Redding, CA.
This is an onsite position based at our San Jose office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use AutoCAD Lt. to update BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Review technical specifications, audit, and source parts as needed for the demonstration plant in Redding, CA
- Assist Engineering/Operations team with editing/updating technical documents including, but not limited to, SOPs, Design Basis, PHAs, etc.
- Support detailed design efforts for a full-scale commercial plant
- Investigate alternative technologies for dissolution, dewatering, drying, and filtration
- Assist with hydraulic calculations
- Review industry best practices related to piping
- Create and analyze databases to optimize processes
- Spearhead a summer intern project and give a final presentation to the company
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of study in Chemical Engineering
- Class C driver’s license and insurance
- Eagerness to learn
- Willingness to work in a team
- A “can-do” attitude
- Experience with MS Office products with proficiency in Excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel to Redding, CA
COMPENSATION:
The hourly range for this internship is $25.00 - $30.00.
