Job Summary:
Piper Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Fitter to join our team. This role involves installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems while ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and delivering high-quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, modify, and repair fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA and applicable fire codes.
- Accurately measure, cut, and assemble piping and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and perform tasks to a high standard of workmanship.
- Work independently and complete assigned projects without supervision.
- Operate hand and power tools commonly used in the trade safely and effectively.
- Stay current with industry standards, NFPA codes, and emerging technologies.
- Interpret and work from inspection reports, product specifications, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including company vehicle, and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA and applicable fire codes
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Basic understanding of measurements and ability to interpret technical documents.
- Ability to read and comprehend inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
- Proficient in operating electrical and mechanical tools, including saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
- Skilled in safely operating a pipe threading machine.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and compliance.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
- Effective communication skills for interaction with clients and team members.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
