Job Summary:
VFS is currently seeking experienced Fire Sprinkler Fitters to join our team. The role involves installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems in strict compliance with NFPA standards, applicable codes, and safety regulations. Successful candidates will demonstrate technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, modify, and repair fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and applicable fire codes.
- Accurately measure, cut, and assemble piping and components using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Interpret and work from inspection reports, product specifications, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
- Safely operate a variety of electrical and mechanical tools, including saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, and ladders.
- Maintain and operate company vehicles and equipment in accordance with safety and insurance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including timesheets, work tickets, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and supervisors to ensure project success.
- Prioritize tasks and develop practical solutions to challenges encountered on the job.
- Adhere to all safety practices and company standards while performing work.
- Be available for work during weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and California Fire Code.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Current Cal Fire Fitter Certification (preferred).
- Basic understanding of measurements and ability to interpret technical documents.
- Ability to read and comprehend inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
- Proficient in operating electrical and mechanical tools, including saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
- Skilled in safely operating a pipe threading machine.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and compliance.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
- Effective communication skills for interaction with clients and team members.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skillset. This role is also eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401k match, pet insurance, short term/long term disability, etc...
Compensation Rate
$30 - $30 USD
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
