Job Summary:
Piper Fire Protection’s Clearwater, FL branch is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Service Technician (Underground) to join our team. This role involves service, repair, and modification of fire sprinkler systems, with a focus on underground piping work, while ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and delivering quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform service, repairs, and modifications on fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
- Complete all required documentation for service and inspections accurately and on time.
- Communicate with customers before and after each service call to explain work performed.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned jobs and maintain daily communication with the Service Coordinator regarding job status or delays.
- Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including company vehicle, and adhere to all safety policies.
- Operate heavy equipment such as Lull, Backhoe, and fork truck.
- Install and repair underground piping systems.
- Work on or install fire hydrants and/or backflow prevention devices.
- Operate and maintain a Ridgid 300 power threading machine.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience servicing and maintaining fire sprinkler systems with a thorough understanding of NFPA codes and compliance standards.
- Experience with underground piping installation and related equipment operation.
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools common to the trade.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
